I would recommend ME1 if you have a pc that can play it. If you like RPGs it is easilly the best out of the two. From what I've been seeing of ME3, I'm sure it will remain the best of the three.

Mass Effect 1 was an amazing game. Made you feel like you were actually exploring the galaxy. Made you feel a sense of wonder and mystery. Had a kick ass story and a wicked villain.
ME2, didn't even need to happen as you learned nothing, some of the lore is wrong from what you learn in ME1 and to top it all off, at the end of ME2 you are exactly where you ended ME1 at, ME2 literally didn't even need to happen and your choices in ME1 didn't even effect ME2, they really had no real bearing. ME3 looks like its going to be the same, except from a couple dialogue differences what happened in ME2 isn't going to matter in ME3.
Bioware is just going downhill since ME2, DA2, and ME3 looks to be just another case of trying to cash in on the gears of war call of duty crowd.
ME2s story was terrible yet people said it was amazing. Good lord it was horrible, it just threw out everything that they built in the first one for a story that would appeal to the masses...and it sure succeeded.
I'm not saying people who like ME2 are stupid or anything like that, so don't take this personally. But if you actually got the chance to play ME1 on the PC after it was patcehd it was amazing. There was actual player choice, you could mod your guns so you essentially didnt ever have them overheat and didnt need to reload, there was random generated weapons and armor.
Man ME1 was an RPG with shooting mechanics and it worked amazingly. ME2 was a shooter, with the lightest of RPG mechanics and it was garbage.
I'm tired of the trend in this industry, where they just try to increase profit margin year in year out. I don't care if its good business its turning good games into mindless generic games.
