LittleBigPlanet Karting Confirmed, More Info Coming "Soon"

Well, it wasn't a hoax.

Via the official PlayStation Twitter page, Sony has confirmed that LittleBigPlanet Karting is in the works. We don't have any additional information but at least we know it's a stone-cold certainty:

"Update: We can confirm that LittleBigPlanet Karting is in fact in development and we look forward to sharing more on the game soon!"

Early rumors said the game will launch for the PlayStation 3 with 3D support, which probably wouldn't surprise anyone. But we'll have to wait until they decide to release more details on the project; for instance, who's making it? Is it Media Molecule? Or is it another team? Personally, I like the idea of a Sackboy kart game; I've missed the good ol' karting days on the Nintendo consoles I used to have. Okay, I still have the SNES and I still play Super Mario Kart. So sue me.

Anyway, stay tuned for more LittleBigPlanet Karting info.

Sooooo... What about modnation racers? I thought that already had the UGC cart racer down. Still, looking forward lbp's take on this genre.

No love for Modnation Racers there, Ben?

Honestly, I've hardly played through Modnation on my PS3, so for my karting needs I'm gonna play that and Mario Kart 7 on my 3DS. Best of both worlds.

I'm sure LBP Karting will be great! But my wallet and my spare time are keeping me from wanting it. Competition tends to do that to us customers. :(

I love modnation racers, it's the best kart game I've played all things considered. Mario kart WAS great and still is fun to play. But considering all that modnation has to offer, including the track editor is pretty amazing.

As for a LBP karting game, well I'm excited. LBP are 2 of my favorite games. So itll be interesting to see how it turns out. But it seems a little odd to me that Sony would release 2 exclusive games in direct competition with eachother. Maybe they were underwhelmed with the success or lack there of... For modnation. Or maybe it's as simple as knowing the LBP name can go far, and the ideas behind it are second to none. I don't know, but anything LBP I'll be playing!

Sounds to me that Sony may abandon the Modnation Racer name and put the LBP name in its place. I assume United Front (Modnation's developer) is developing this game. It only makes sense, unless their busy on something else.

That is a LOT of assumptions there. Before we hear more I dont see why media molecule cant front this and modnations can still keep trucking along.

i doubt MNR will be replaced with this, its a much more older styled game then this is.
wonder if this will even have combat, or if it will just be about racing.
MNR can still exist with this on the market, 2 totally different games!

LBP has become the new mario!
only a matter of time till we see sackboy and R&C at the Olympic games.......
nothing can be popular this gen, otherwise it becomes bastardized, and whored out to everything on the planet milked bone dry till you end up with another guitar hero!

Dunno why Modnation was never reviewed. Traded mine anyway so maybe that's why it wasn't reviewed as it was a bit crap lol. Little Big Planet 1 and 2 has been the better games so im looking forward to Sackboy Racing :)

I don't like this, probably won't be getting it. Already have MNR which is a quality kart racer, and the best kart racer I've personally played this gen.

LBPkarting seems to be a surplus of kart racing within the Playstation family.
