DMC3 Director On DMC Reboot: "It's Going To Be Awesome"

While some fans just can't get over what Ninja Theory did to Dante's silver hair (and overall look), one of the game's directors says fans shouldn't worry. Instead, be excited!

Capcom's Hideaki Itsuno was the director of Devil May Cry 3, which many followers deem to be the best installment in the series. Therefore, his words should hold some definite weight, don't you think?

In speaking to NowGamer, Itsuno said he can't talk about the project too much, but he was in Cambridge earlier in the week to attend a meeting concerning Ninja Theory's DMC. His impressions?

"I just want to say, don't worry about the game at all, it's going to be awesome. We're sure that a lot of people are going to be pretty blown away by it."

Although we didn't like Dante's new design, either, as soon as we saw some gameplay, we were excited. Why? Because it seems to be vintage Devil May Cry; the combat appears to be fast and furious (and hopefully deep), and the style and presentation also fits with the franchise's vaunted panache. And when the DMC3 director says we'll be "blown away," we're inclined to believe him.

I would really like to see some gameplay that made you think so. This is because all i saw was enemies waiting for their turn to have their ass kicked with no effort .

I m just afraid their might be a lack of challenge ( hoping what i saw was a easy mode )but beside that it look pretty good once you get past his new look and persona .

The trailers are to show off Dante's moves, not show him getting his ass kicked by bad guys.

It's not the gamplay I am concerned about it, it's the character and story. I feel exactly the same with this as I do MGS Rising, I am sure the game as a game will be good, but in comparison to the rest of the series it simply does not correlate.

And as I have said many times before DMC4 ended at a point where a sequal could have quite easily happened with the 3 characters together, but no. They scrapped the whole series and reformed it into this. I simply do not like reboots for the fact that they cut the cord on all the previous titles wihtin the franchise.

Don't worry about the story coming out of Ninja Theory. It's what they do very well.

I'm sure, I respect them very much for Enslaved, but the fact that it is a reboot instantly makes it invalid in my eye.

Defiantly, Ninja Theory are certainly capable of creating good games Enslaved and Heavenly Sword are proof of this. However, I cannot approve of them taking a beloved franchise and starting over. Heck even if Ninja Theory made an actual Devil May Cry 5 and set after DMC4, I don't think I would be opposed to it, my hatred is directed at the idea of a reboot.

They can tell a good story sure. But this game, although i agree with ultima about being worried about how they will handle this story, is about the gameplay. DMC3's battle system was way deeper than HS, and Enslaved also had a rather shallow system. I'm worried about it being dumbed down.

Agree , there is no way he would say it s anything else then at least good .I must say tho that i don t think he would have said anything if he did nt think it had at least potential .

LOL no no no. the game play blew. and the game looks like crap. the least they could do is have it look similar to DMC4. DMC HD looks much better.

I went back and played some Enslaved last week, it just reiterated for me that DMC is going to be fantastic. People are worried about the combat since NT hasn't gotten that deep previously, but since they are working in tandem with the combat guys at Capcom I think there's nothing to worry about here. I'm not sure where haters are coming up with the idea that the combat looks bad, or indeed, much different from classic DMC play.

Yes, Enslaved a true classic! I am sure DMC will be great! It's hard to follow DMC4 with a new look. It's strange though, not sure why they felt it needed a reboot? DMC4 was great and they had something great going there. I cannot wait to see how DMC does review wise. We'll see soon enough.

I don't know about anyone else but I for one, hate whenever they do a "new look" for the main character, to me it just threatens to ruin some of my mood for the entire game.

Case in point, I've been playing infamous 2 for the last couple nights & although I'm about 5-6 hours into Good Cole, I still can't shake my disdain for this redone Cole, or of his new whimpy & mediocre voice.

And sadly enough, I'm still gonna wind up hating on both once I've completed the game.

Other than that, it's a great game overall (although inFamous 2 does seem a bit easier than than #1 so far).

i dont know man, but the voice on infamous 1 was pretty much a wannabe solid snake to me. it sounded force. I think a lot of people prefer the first game's voice simply because its his original. infamous 2's cole voice fits his look pretty darn well

nones worried its not going to be awesome, people are worried its not going to be a DMC game!
just like DMC4 was.
that was the biggest abomination since $ony took their london studio off the getaway 3 and 8 days!
and for what?

yea thats why i paid 1000 AUD for my ps3, so i can tickle a little fury thing!
sigh, how i wish i could turn last gen into this gen.
imagine ps2 games but with ps3 graphics, GOW2 with GOW3s graphics!
ICO with GOW3s graphics.
oh great now look what ive gone and done!
