Activision On GameBlog Snafu: "We Don't Blacklist Journalists"

As some of you are aware, evidence supporting a sequel to Call of Duty: Black Ops emerged over the weekend.

One of those pieces of evidence came courtesy of French publication GameBlog, which spotted the title at Amazon France's website. Not long afterward, Activision apparently asked the site to remove the article and when the reporter refused, the publisher "blacklisted" the site, which means no more invites to press events and worse, no more press releases or review titles. That's not what any site wants to hear, of course.

However, there appears to be some sort of misunderstanding because Activision has responded by saying:

"Activision doesn't blacklist journalists. We believe this was a misunderstanding and are working towards a resolution."

Now, before the Activision haters kick things into high gear, I can tell you from experience that this sounds exactly like a misunderstanding. Activision wants attention and coverage; blacklisting a site gets them nowhere and furthermore, it likely wouldn't be their reaction to such a minor infraction. Maybe something was lost in translation, I don't know.

Just wanted to bring some basic logic and reason to this mini mess.
