Newell On Half-Life 3: Don't Want To Excite The Fans Too Early
Gabe Newell is always worth talking to.
And in a new Penny Arcade interview, the Valve boss talks about his reluctance to fire up all the die-hard Half-Life followers by talking about the third installment too early.
"Part of the reason that we backed off talking so much about what was happening in the future is that when we’ve done that in the past, you know, with Half-Life 1 it was a year after we originally said it would be, Half-Life 2 basically if you go and read the forum posts apparently took us 50 or 60 years to get done, so we’re trying to be careful not to get people too excited and then have to go and disappoint them. So we’re sort of reacting in the other direction and saying, ‘okay, well let’s have things a little more baked before we start getting people all excited about it.’”
Keeping fans in the dark may seem like the wrong move, and Newell recognizes that keeping Half-Life 3 under wraps might prove annoying. At the same time, he says it's frustrating for his team to have to put the fans in that situation. It's a difficult situation but obviously, but Valve is toiling away, so have patience. Newell adds that if anyone has a way to cram more work hours into a day, feel free to let him know.
Bottom line? He'll talk about it when he's ready.
"I get a ton of email every day saying why aren’t you talking about Episode 3? And there are very good reasons why we’re not talking about Episode 3, which I can’t talk about yet, but I will."

Too many great games, not enough time or money.
Sorry developers, but I can't support you all. I'm afraid this little Aussie gamer has to stick with the big ones like Batman, Skyrim, Uncharted, GTA, Red Dead, Metal Gear Solid (Rising doesn't interest me) and Assassin's Creed. No, Call of Duty doesn't make my list until they create a new engine and a campaign longer than 5 hours. I'm not much of a multiplayer person anyway.

Unfortunately I'm afraid that my laptop will not run episode three, but that's okay with me, as long as they make a PS3 version that's as good as Portal 2.
And I'm really sure it will be the greatest shooter experience we've ever come across. We'll only have to wait a bit longer for it.

HL2 was just not impressive at the time it finally got released , at least not as fun as it could have been if released when it was supposed to before the " game code got leaked " excuse .
