Pre-Order Mass Effect 3 On PSN, Dowload It On Launch Day
The digital world beckons...
Mass Effect 3 is undoubtedly one of the biggest releases of 2012, and it'll be in stores on March 6. But you know, there's one other place to purchase BioWare's hotly anticipated RPG: the PlayStation Network.
Sony has confirmed that ME3 will be available to download on the PSN on the same day the physical copies arrive at brick-and-mortar retailers. The only catch is that you have to pre-order via the PSN, which you can do right now. In addition, those who pre-order the digital version will get the M55 Argus rifle as a bonus; it's a "close-range weapon that uses bursts of fire to ensure ammunition conservation." You'll nab a nifty ME3 PS3 theme, too.
Bear in mind that this offer pertains exclusively to the launch of Mass Effect 3, so you have to strike before March 6. The interesting question is this: how many are willing to take up a giant chunk of their hard drive to put this big ol' game on it? I'm also willing to bet I could get to GameStop and come back before you're down downloading it... Yeah, sorry, still a big proponent of physical copies.

You're going to get ME3 because of the coop gameplay, but could not care less about the single player story? Wow, that's something I've never seen anyone say about Mass Effect before.
Not that there's anything wrong in that - I absolutely *love* coop play too and I haven't even tried this demo so for all I know the coop play might be pure excellence in this game, but... Getting the game for the coop gameplay and not care the slightest about the story? Just... Wow!

The co op portion is that good to validate his opinion even if i disagree with skipping the single player portion. It's highly addictive for a survival co op mode, a mode i normally don't care for much.
Its also a breath of fresh air using other races besides human.
The game doesn't need multiplayer but it fits this game better than what i could have imagined

@Ben Sorry if I came off as rude my intention was humor (fail). I don't mean physical is any better then digital, it's the same thing...
I have a collection of over 40 physical ps3 games.
In the course of a day I usually switch games about 4-5 times...
I know it's my fault for not putting the disks back in their cases, I leave them on top of the case. So occasionally a disk will fall and due to my carelessness I end up scratching the game.
Which is why for me personally I prefer digital stuff, I cant break it, only erase it.
Also I'm curious do you know if the digital version will be cheaper? Because if it's the same price as physical then that's just stupid.

PC gamers have been enjoying this for years. We know there's a market for new release downloads, and the PSN can already support it. There's no justifiable reason why this hasn't happened yet. Not when there's an extremely successful business model in place that proves the ease and profitability of it.

A lot of us are stuck with crummy cable internet connections with laughably slow connection speeds -- comcast and others literally refuse to offer anything faster for any price. I have to think that some day, some company is going to come up with a brilliant way to increase internet speeds hundreds of times over (supposedly google is working on this right now) and if that day comes, it really will be a game changer. Till then, physical copies for big games is an easy choice.

This is related to the previous Mass Effect topic: the trailer title should of been "Break the Cycle." F**k yooou Maku Waruterusu!!!
Though I can confirm Clint Mansell did a brilliant job in staying true to Mass Effect 1, even using and remixing ME1 tracks with his own tint of serenity. Hope the game turns out well.
