Retailer Lists God Of War With Estimated February 2013 Date

We've heard evidence in the past to support the theory that God of War IV will be revealed next month.

Now, there's something else to consider: according to Gaming Everything, a South African retailer (BT Games) has started taking pre-orders for the next God of War installment on the PlayStation 3.

The game was also highlighted in the company's newsletter and right now, the title holds an estimated launch window of February 2013. There is the expected caveat, though: "Preorder pries and ETA are provisional and subject to change before release date." God of War IV has been spotted in multiple places over the past few months but Sony has yet to make its existence official.

However, February 2013 might be close; the GoW games have all launched in March. On the other hand, we had hoped to see this bad boy in 2012, just so the PS3 could have another killer exclusive for the holiday rush. But whenever GoWIV arrives, we'll be excited.

Embarrassingly enough I am only half way through GoWII. I own GoWIII, so I am glad I still have some time to get caught up. If this news is true this will definitely sell some more PS3s!
Edit - Also, if we are looking at 3/2013 then it looks like the PS4 won't be out until holiday 2013 or later which is a good thing!

I have the whole trilogy but have yet to play them. I have picked them up dirt cheap over the years but just have not been in the mood to play many hack n slash games. I know I'll get around to it one day.

Man, GOW is going on it's 7th year (and 6th iteration). It's about time now. Yes, it's got hack'n slash gameplay to it (and platforming and puzzles), but as a total package, it's more of a cinematic action adventure like Uncharted if you ask me. Get to it, or there will be chaos!

@Shams
LOL! So far I have really enjoyed GoW. I have to make it a priority because I hear they get better and better with each iteration.

GoW was classic. GoWII was amazing (so far the best installment), GoWIII was a great successor but wasn't able to beat II.

My point is, they are great games that can't be missed. I've yet to get the Origins Collection and then I'm set to replay them all in order.

If it does come out in Feb. 2013, why take pre-orers too soon, year away is a long time, then again it might be sooner for some people.

Yeah, wasn't it supposed to have been announced this month? ;)

If this date is real, it could mean that Sony starts off next year in excellent fashion, but Santa Monica is doing other things, which makes me wonder if this will instead be handed off to someone else. Job listings on their site indicates a third person shooter/adventure game in a new IP, while they're also helping out TLG, Starhawk and Sorcery. Must be a damn big studio to have all of those projects in the offing, as well as two major new ones.

There is not going to be a god of war 4, he's killed everyone. Who's he going to kill, Jesus and the twelve disciples?

God of War IV doesn't necessarily need Kratos in it.

***SPOILER***

Yeah he died, we know that, but there can always be a continuation with a different hero.

meh.
sorry, but GOW3 killed every last desire i had for the series!
1 was a freaking masterpiece!
2 was ok, a bit of a slope down, focused too much on boss battles, less on story and puzzles which made the original so great.
and 3 was more of the same, everything about boss battles, really lame simple puzzles, and boring repetitive combat.
GOW3 is the best example of cut and paste game design.
how many times did we revisit the chamber of the olympus flame?
the whole game felt like it ran over 2 different areas!
worst case of cut and paste game design ever!

Wrong, it would come out in March, not February.
