SCEA Reveals 2012 PSN Gamers Choice Award Nominees

The PlayStation Network is home to a great many fantastic downloadable experiences, and now you get a chance to vote for the best.

Today, Sony Computer Entertainment America (SCEA) has announced the nominees for the 2012 PlayStation Network (PSN) Gamers Choice Awards. This time around, we've got six new voting categories, which brings the total number of awards to 10.

As of tomorrow, PSN users will have one week to cast their votes. Doing so will net you a free Gamers Choice Awards XMB theme for each vote cast, and you can even vote online for one special community category - Best PSN Indie - and receive a voucher code for another free XMB theme. The winners will be announced on the PlayStation Blog on March 6, and each winning title will be discounted 30% for one week (50% for Plus subscribers).

And here are the nominees:

Best PSN Exclusive: inFAMOUS Festival of Blood (PS3), PixelJunk Shooter 2 (PS3), TETRIS (PS3)

Best PSN Game: inFAMOUS Festival of Blood (PS3), Plants vs. Zombies (PS3), Resident Evil 4 (PS3)

im sorry but who the hell voted for any of those to be nominated! lol.. terrible choices

maybe Ive been looking through my rose tinted glasses again, but I can think of a lot better games than what has been nominated there.

then again, its a bit like joining PSN Plus and realising that every new full game that they bring out to wow you with.. you had actually brought several months before and are now cursing them under your breath.

No your not alone in your thinking, it's a terrible list.

I actually just read this news story over on TheSixthAxis and it's been reported there as a terrible list and every person who's posted in the comments over there believe it to be a terrible list. I also tend to agree that it's a terrible list of games.

And what the heck is Tetris doing in the best PSN exclusives? A great game, a classic game but Sony don't own Tetris. Or did they buy the rights?

Who the hell voted? Apparently, the people who bought the games and bothered to rate them on PSN.

I agree that the selections aren't uniformly great (I couldn't even vote on two categories), but that's what you get when you decide by popular vote.

@frosty

Not Tetris...Tetris HD.

;P

There seems to be a theme on the PSP games, genre wise...

But, this category;

Best PS3 Full Game: Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood (PS3), Assassin’s Creed II: Deluxe Edition (PS3), Midnight Club LA Complete Edition (PS3)

Really? Those are the nominees? Infamous doesn't ring a bell with anyone? whatever.

Sony was too busy pushing Festival of Blood expansion to include the real thing.

I'll vote just to get the themes, but I'm not happy with very many of their choices there.

infamous 2 festival of blood for best PSN game?
really?
wow, $onys standards have dropped allot!
FoB is one of the worst PSN games available!
and tetris?
really?
ok, this is a serious question what has $ony been smoking lately?
i mean when your voting tetris for best online game you know its time to check the clock and pass the dooby on the left hand side.
ONLY game there that deserves to be on that list is limbo!

Tetris? Angy Birds? Pac-man? FFS, these belong to the smartphone game scene!

This says more about the level of the PSN games than I think they intended.
