Ratchet & Clank: The Latest To Earn A High-Def Collection?

First they toss up a listing for Call of Duty: Black Ops 2, and now they leak something else...maybe Amazon France should get their act together.

Still, more early news for us, right? According to Game Informer citing the French branch of the online retailer, a Ratchet & Clank HD Collection will arrive in stores (in Europe, obviously) on May 16.

It wouldn't be too surprising, as we've already seen multiple high-definition collections this generation, including God of War, Sly Cooper, Tomb Raider, Jak & Daxter, ICO and Shadow of the Colossus, and Metal Gear Solid. Insomniac's award-winning franchise certainly deserves such a nod, don't you think? Chances are, this will include the first three R&C adventures from the PS2 era (even though there were more than three): Ratchet & Clank, Ratchet & Clank: Going Commando, and Ratchet & Clank: Up Your Arsenal.

Last year's Ratchet & Clank: All 4 One wasn't exactly what the hardcore fans wanted as it was based on a different design. The last "true" R&C title was 2009's A Crack in Time and we've been hoping the series will return to its single-player, linear roots. In the meantime, though, a nice HD Collection would make plenty of fans happy...

If true, this is an instant day one purchase for me. Instant.

I hope they throw in Deadlocked as well, it featured sufficient multiplayer mechanics for online multi-player head to head fun. An HD version of that would be nice.

I think this would be very awesome as well.

You know you're a good guy, Highlander. I don't care what Ben says about you.

Day-friggin-1-purchase! Don't care. 40 dollars out of my wallet instantly.

I doubt 'Ratchet: Deadlocked' will be included in the collection. 'Jak X Racing' wasn't included in the 'Jak and Daxter' HD Collection. I guess four games just wouldn't work too well.

Still, that inconvenience could lead to a Volume 2 HD Collection with 'Ratchet: Deadlocked, Size Matters, and Secret Agent Clnak'! Just keep hoping.

Wow, rambled. Sorry. Yes! Want, want, want!

I love the games for the PS3, but I will admit I never did get the first 4. This will be such a great combo so I can catch up on the first 3 games. Plus, I don't have to go sifting through the used game bins in Gamestop. (Don't like buying used games from them unless its next to near impossible to get it elsewhere at a decent price.)

Awesome. Regretfully this is one series I never played on PS2. I played the Jak & Daxter games. With an HD collection on PS3, I'll have no excuse ;)

Well, gotta be honest... I saw this coming. It's really the only PS2 franchise missing from Sony's HD collection on the PS3. With this out, I can't really see anymore HD collections happening besides maybe a second Jak & Daxter collection (Jak X, Daxter and Jak & Daxter: The Lost Frontier) and a second Ratchet & Clank collection (Deadlocked, Size Matters and Secret Agent Clank). I'm sure any remaining PS2 titles will just get released as PS2 Classic on the PS Store now (soooo pumped to see Primal on there). I'm hoping that I can play Dark Cloud 2 and Drakan: The Ancients' Gates on my PS3 soon enough. :)

I was just thinking that! Dark Cloud HD collection. I know, I know, it's very slim but it would be worth it (maybe to see 'Dark Cloud 3' after that).

Xenosaga 1, 2 and 3. Three parts, a trilogy, it's perfect for an HD remake....plus its a real turn based JRPG, so JRPG fans ought to be all over it.

The only problem with 'Xenosaga' is Monolith Soft (the creators) are a subsidiary of Nintendo so I don't think an HD collection on the PS3 would ever happens.

Same goes for anyone asking for a 'Fatal Frame' HD Collection. Nintendo owns that IP too. It's a shame because those two series would be great for HD remasterings.

Namco owns the IP, not Monolith.

What about Onimusha? I'm surprised Capcom's ignoring that franchise this generation. A collection for that would be perfect for rekindling interest.

As slim of a chance a 'Syphon Filter' HD Collection has, I could see it happening.

They would have to bundle 'Syphon Filter: The Omega Strain', 'Dark Mirror', and 'Logan’s Shadow' together, considering those are the only games in the series released/ported for the PS2.

honestly i can't believe its taken this long. back when these HD collections started taking off i figured this was a no brainer. it was one of the PS2's defining franchises after all.

oh dont tease me like that!
theres NOTHING in the world i want more then a R&C HD remake!
NOTHING!
especially now that insomniac has gone down the sh*tter and signed with EAP, and they have already said theve left resistance so im worried they have left R&C as well.
leaving one of the best franchises ever seen on any platform in the condition all for one did would be the biggest injustice the world has ever seen!

if they are going to do it though i hope they include gladiator.
that was such a awesome game, yea it was different, but it still kicked a$$!
in fact id go so far as to say it was the 2nd best in the series!
up your arsenal was and always will be the best R&C game, and one of the best games ever made!
id love to see the PSP games remade in a separate collection maybe, or together whatever.
simply said i cant get enough of lovely lombax goodness!

This is the HD remake I wanted. Its should have been the first! Ps3 Ratchet and clanks are ok, but not like the older ones!
