Bioshock Infinite's Boys Of Silence: A Nightmarish Design

Irrational Games boss Ken Levine said he wanted more enemy designs in Bioshock Infinite, because he felt the past entries kept reusing too many of the same enemy types.

So his team is pulling out all the stops. You've probably already seen the freakish machine gun-toting George Washingtons, but you haven't yet laid eyes on the Boys of Silence.

It's the latest of the game's "heavy hitters" and in a new video, we get a glimpse of the threatening, wildly creepy foe. Levine says it's rare he looks at a new design and says, "we have to do that" but apparently, it happened for this particular opponent. We have to admit; the design is absolutely bonkers and one that's bound to inspire a few bad dreams. Check it out.

It's really just another example of this game's amazing creativity. Irrational is going to deliver quite the adventure, and we're fairly convinced it's gonna be not only entertaining, but memorable.

They really do have some great imaginations at work here. Can the build up get any higher! Going to be great!

I'm sure Gamespot & IGN can use your whining, so if you're not happy here, then don't let the door smack you in the a$$ on your way out.

The mobs in these games are simply masterful. Such amazing displays of creativity and fantasy! To return to the other games again, fighting gunmen and soldiers is such a dull affair after enjoying the fantastic creations of Bioshock.

Bioshock Infinite can not come fast enough.

Brilliant design that also affects the gameplay.

One thing that I don't understand this generation is why we still have about the same number of "types" of enemies as we did both last generation and the generation before. It should be tripled, or a system should build random enemy designs in some cases.

This is my most anticipated game of 2012 followed closely by Darksiders II.

They don't seem that overly scary to me so far.

But I think if these Boys of Silence can actually start tooting their own horns once they've alerted on you & then go into a full siren mode while chasing you, then I'd surely be creeped out while trying to escape.

Make it so!!!!!!

Man, dey some ugly mothers. That's all though. They remind me a bit of those dashboard bobbleheads, cos that mask is WAY too big for its body. Just not scary to me, but it'll be interesting to see the faux-stealth that their inclusion necessitates.

they have shown allot on enemies and the environments but nothing on the writing and story.
im really starting to get worried there focusing far too much on other things and giving the writing a back role.
please dont forget what made the original bioshock so awesome!
will you kindly has become a phenomenon, so dont forget were expecting exactly the same from this!
please oh please dont turn into another ME3!
gameplay far improved over ME2 but story oh so much worse over ME2!

Blankey, are you kidding me? The first 2 or 3 dev diaries were about the story and how they're trying to make it a landmark story for an FPS and a BioShock game. There's a huge focus not just on plot, but on characters and voiceovers as well.

Maybe if you actually paid attention to some of these videos you might have learned that.

i dont know, but i expected something really jaw dropping and amazing, but didn't come away amazed. Its not a bad design, but it seemed a bit hyped up. Still a day one buy for me, but perhaps id have to see these guys in action

Kinda reminds me of a mask voldo from soul calibur would wear, since he's blind as well
