LittleBigPlanet Karting: Sackboy Goes For A Spin This Year
Yeah, most people already knew this was coming. But the official press release is here, so now it's like...uh...official.
Today, Sony Computer Entertainment America LLC (SCEA) has announced LittleBigPlanet Karting exclusively for the PlayStation 3. Sackboy and the rest of his cute, zany buddies will be hitting the track and of course, the patented Play, Create, Share philosophy will be featured. The game only has a relatively vague "2012" release window.
It'll boast competitive and cooperative karting fun in an atmosphere that is "unmistakably LittleBigPlanet," with lush 3D worlds and even "objective-based missions, boss battles, and mini-games." Players will be able to customize their Sackboy and karts, and the level editor will encourage you to be very inventive: This will go beyond any karting game in the past, apparently, as we'll be able to devise our own rules and weapons, in addition to creating the actual tracks. Said SCEA PlayStation Brand Marketing Senior Vice President Guy Longworth:
"Since the launch of LittleBigPlanet, our community has provided incredible support, which can be seen in the more than six million levels and games that have been created and shared online through PlayStation Network, a truly wonderful accomplishment. Now, we're thrilled to bring PlayStation 3 owners the next Play, Create, Share experience, LittleBigPlanet Karting, a brand new competitive karting adventure that is sure to move this genre forward, providing endless entertainment for fans and newcomers, while resonating with every member of the family, young and old."
This one is currently in development at United Front Games and original LBP developer Media Molecule is involved in some capacity. We'll let you know when they start dropping media so you can have a peek.

I wish the developers the best, and hope it does well, but this is one of the few Sony exclusives I will not be picking up.
