Infinity Ward's Robert Bowling Resigns

We're sure he has his reasons.

Creative Strategist Robert Bowling, who has been a major player in the production of Activision's Call of Duty franchise, is leaving developer Infinity Ward.

Bowling made the announcement at his Twitter page, and it sort of came as a surprise to ardent franchise followers.

"Today, I resign from my position as Creative Strategist of Call of Duty, as a lead of Infinity Ward, and as an employee of Activision."

Bowling didn't offer any explanation as to why he is leaving Infinity Ward and Activision behind, but his now former studio did offer a Twitter update of their own. This doesn't really tell us anything, either, but it's the only official response we have at this point.

"We wish Robert all the best. Thanks for everything."

It'll be interesting to see who steps into Bowling's vacated role as we approach the inevitable announcement of this year's CoD project, which most assume will be Black Ops 2. Just bear in mind that it's Treyarch's job; Infinity Ward handled last year's Modern Warfare 3 and we don't know what they might be working on now. Modern Warfare 4...? Well, possibly.

sinks?
the ship that has broken sales records 3 times in a row now is in zero danger of sinking any time soon!

Soon? maybe...but eventually (like all big things) i doubt it'll still stand that high in gaming. Look at GH isnt that a great example?
In which CoD installment everyone thinks we'll start to see the inevitable... the downward slope? Next Year? ;P

Note: Im not a CoD hater i actually own 5 CoDs, from CoD4 and up. and still play it occasionally with my clan. C=

i wonder if this has to do with the whole fiasco.
he probably couldent leave then because he was still under contract.
oh well, almost the whole team has left now!
i wouldent be surprised to see the whole raven software team being folded into IW.
which would be a massive shame because that team has allot of potential!
one of THE most under appreciated developers out there!
their last 2 games wolfenstein and especially singularity were actually really good!

I don't. F*** him, he doesn't deserve to go to Respawn, they're fine as they are.

Not that surprised, he was probably the most disliked COD person on Youtube. I feel bad for the guy for all the negative hype that surrounded him, the internet has a tendency to blow things out of proportion.

To be frank though, he did promise things about the new COD that he didn't deliver on, and that's a surefire way to tick off fans.

Who cares if they've broken sales records on 3 separate occasions. If theres one thing in life i've learned. Nothing is guaranteed in life. I'm sure people said that about circuit city, fannie mae (Not trying to get all political, so chill), etc. before they "sunk" as well. Greed can definitely get the best of people and big companies are definitely not immune to that. If they don't do something new with CoD, at some point, people are going to notice and get tired of the same ol'. Most people here already have actually. Now i don't think that'll happen any time soon for activision and i'm sure that is not why this dude left, but don't go thinking just because they are breaking sales records that they can't "sink" at some point.
