Journey Sets PSN Sales Record, Official Soundtrack Coming

No title deserves this more.

Journey is arguably one of the best games of the entire generation, and the PlayStation users have responded: As revealed at the PlayStation Blog, Thatgamecompany's latest has broken records, "surpassing all first and third-party games to become the fastest-selling game ever released in the SCEA region on the PlayStation Network."

Studio boss Jenova Chen talks about how many positive emails they got about their last title, Flower (ranging from a 9-year-old girl to a soldier returning from Iraq), and he says this was a great part of the team's inspiration. Now, more letters are pouring in for Journey...in fact, they've received more letters in two weeks than they did in three years for Flower. And in celebration of the developer's success, they will be providing fans with the official Journey soundtrack, available both on the PSN and iTunes on April 10, along with a CD release "in the near future."

I don't think anyone will begrudge Chen and Co. the success they've had. Their games are pretty damn amazing.

Coolness. I'll get it when it goes on sale... and if I have the money at that time.

I also look forward to seeing the game in action. I'm pretty certain Flower's graphics were processed entirely off the CELL processor. I remember them claiming the game was impossible on 360.

I was just browsing the music section of the PSN and as of last night, the button to buy Journey's soundtrack was already there.

I'm so glad this game has gotten such a great response. It truly deserves it. I bought Journey as soon as it was available for Plus members and I've played through it at least 6 times now.

As someone who plays games to wind down at the end of the day, Journey is perfect. Just perfect.

Hats off to Thatgamecompany.

This has got to be one of the best games ever made.

A huge round of applause to thatgamecompany. They delivered a unique experience that filled me a nostalgic rush because it took me back to ICO.

They deserve the attention they are getting because Journey is indeed a work of gaming art.

Two thumbs up!

Loved this, to paraphrase Captain Kirk, of all the games I've every played this one is the most... human.

It was sad to see a couple rabble rousers give it bad reviews to get traffic. (Though it's possible some people are just devoid of emotion)

Thatgamecompany definitely deserves this. Journey wasn't just a game... it was an amazing experience. I've played it 4 times now and every time it evokes the same response from me. Quite a work of art.

Very inspiring when art or new things break records/sell well.

This has been happening more than usual lately. Will the powers that be now allow more creative freedom, artistic expression after it has become clear we are yearning for difference?

Probably not.

It's unfortunate to find out that one of the co-founders, plus their producer have just left the Thatgamecompany this week.

just goes to prove what i said the other day.
developers need to stop trying to make a game they think fans want, and make a game they want!
make the game you want, and chances are it will do just fine!

sad to see 2 of their main staff have left the studio so soon though.
i really want to pick this up but refuse to till it gets a price drop.
i dont pay 10 bucks a hour for retail entertainment, let alone PSN entertainment!
$ony sure knows how to nickel and dime their loyal customers!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Looks interesting but since there's no demo, I'll wait for the price drop then check it out !
