PSXE Poll Update: BioWare Shouldn't Write A New ME3 Ending
Although BioWare has already said they'd like to address the fan outcry concerning unsatisfactory Mass Effect 3 endings, it seems the majority of gamers say the developers shouldn't bow to such demands.
It remains a dicey issue throughout the gaming community, so we figured we'd ask the million-dollar question. As it turns out, most say BioWare shouldn't bother at all with a new ending, while the remaining voters were split almost evenly among the other three options. For the most part, as time goes on, it appears that most gamers are saying fans overreacted, and that BioWare should be rewarded for a fine product. However, such a backlash has been heard by the designers, so that's something, right?
This week, we wonder what your take is on Resident Evil 6. The recently released Operation Raccoon City didn't go over well with critics (even if it selling quite well), but that's just a spin-off. The hardcore fans are hoping RE6 restores the franchise's good name; the name it has so justly earned. But those hardcore fans are a little worried about the new installment's more action-oriented focus...are they justified in that concern? Or will RE6 rule the school?

I'm excited for RE6.It looks more like a blend of RE4 and RE5 to me. Both of which I liked a lot. Here is my concern as with all Capcom games. How much stuff is going to be locked on the disc?

Although from what I have gathered from other polls, forums and message boards most gamers actually do want more closure.
I think it has died down because Bioware said they were looking into it and wait for an April announcement. So people stopped beating the dead horse so to speak.

I don't see the poll anywhere this time, but I have to say I have no faith RE6 will be what I would want. (something creepy and scary)

As for endings or changing them. Bioware set themselves up in regards to what kind of game series they developed. Ultimately though it is up to them or EA to decided whether they are going to change or do a spin on the ending or not at all. My thought is they have had something up their sleeves all along and knew what an uproar they were going to cause.
Lets wait and see.
As for RE6... I am not bothered with the series. I could never get in to the story or the game dynamics. Yes, I am a Silent Hill. Not quite the same game but more in the direction of that genre that I was interested. I say "was" since I only liked the original 3 SH's.
Keep Playing!

Which just is not true. Other polls, suggest the majority of gamers want some sort of closure whether that is a new ending or more reasonably DLC to add to the ending.

a new endings not going to fix all the things bioware f*cked with ME3!
they need to create a new game but the problem is they have royally f*cked themselves!
this was the ending to the trilogy, to one of the biggest best franchises ever created!
and they have completely ruined it!
so sad to see years of hard work spoiled by just 1 game.
i was so excited for this i had planned to buy ME1,2,3 on PC after i finished the ps3 version just so i could start from the beginning and see how that would change my ending.
ME3 disappointed me so much though its destroyed every last desire i had in doing so!
in fact ME3 is the very first ps3 game i have only finished once!
thats how much i was disappointed in it i cant be bothered going back and trying out other things to see what other endings i could get.
congratulations bioware you have killed every last excitement and passion i had to the series!
way to turn one of my favourite things in the universe to one of my most hated!
hope your proud!

In FFVII, you beat the game, the lifestream came out to fend off meteor, the screen goes white, credits roll, then 500 years later, Nanaki and kids (wasn't Nanaki the last of his kind?) come prancing out to see an overgrown Midgar.
LOTS of unanswered questions at that point. WERE humans evil enough afterall for holy to wipe them out? Did Cloud and Tifa get together? How did Barret settle down? What happens with Reeve or Vincent? Does yuffie make off with all the materia? And does Cid settle down with Sheena?
Note, the jRPG crowd never started petitions and bellyaching... They all got answered, of course, over a decade later. But at the time? No... we just put it back on the shelf and thought, "WOW.... that game was incredible!"
Just an observation.... Perhaps Mass Effect isn't as incredible to be satisfied with just that....

I think thats the big thing, people are mad at ME3 for having a let down ending that ultimately made all of their choices pointless, plus all the stuff right before release the ME3 devs lied about, saying that your choices across all three games would result in dozens of different endings etc.
FF7 didn't have choice that affected the story, so I guess people didn't feel as cheated maybe?
I do know that every one of my friends including myself didn't like FF7s ending. But over time we started making up our own endings, and theorizing what happened based on what we know happened in the game. Like the ending after the credits you hear children laughing, so we figured the innocent did survive.
Some games the cryptic vague ending really adds to the game. I remember the huge amount of fun Shadow of the Colossus fans had on gamefaqs, talking about the story and the ending, what they thought it meant etc.
It felt really out of place in ME3 where the idea was that we were going to get closure you know?

I haven't really played a lot of Resident Evil so I can't really have an opinion. I have friends who are big fans of the earlier RE games and they are vocal about not liking RE5 or even ORC. So my vote on the poll would be the one saying that it doesn't interest me.
