DICE Seeks Engineer To Take Frostbite Into Next-Gen
Nowadays, you can't go one week without hearing about another developer working on a next-generation project.
The latest is Battlefield developer DICE. The team has a job listing for a senior software engineer and the term "next-generation" is easily spotted in the job description.
The successful candidate will work to implement new features, keep track of performance and memory, and further optimize the popular Frostbite engine for current- and next-generation systems. The engine in question has already been seen in games like Battlefield 3 and Need for Speed: The Run, and it will return in this year's Medal of Honor: Warfighter. Obviously, it's an engine EA and DICE want to push into the new generation of hardware, and we doubt anybody is going to complain.
Wouldn't it be interesting if DICE was preparing Battlefield 4 for new pieces of hardware like the PS4 and Xbox 720...? Personally, I still want a sequel to Mirror's Edge and although EA has said they're not abandoning the idea, I'm starting to lose hope.
