Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut Set To Appease Vexed Fans
Maybe now everyone will quiet down and we can move on.
BioWare has announced Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut, which is a free download that will provide bitter gamers with "deeper insights into how their personal journey concludes."
This expansion will be available for all three platforms (PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, PC) and although the developer didn't get into specifics, they did say they've added "cinematic sequences and epilogue scenes," which should hopefully satisfy the annoyed fans. Said studio co-founder Ray Muzyka:
"With the Mass Effect 3: Extended Cut we think we have struck a good balance in delivering the answers players are looking for while maintaining the team's artistic vision for the end of this story arc in the Mass Effect universe."
Executive producer Casey Hudson added that post-launch development initiatives for the game have been "reprioritized" as a result of this Extended Cut release. Don't worry about grabbing the expansion immediately, though; it'll be available through April 12, 2014, so if you haven't yet finished ME3, take your time.
Ideally, the fans will get what they want and this whole mess can fade away. The only problem is that we get the sneaking suspicion that this effort won't make everyone happy (how can it, really?), and the bitterness will remain for quite some time. Too bad for a fantastic franchise.

If its not, they are going to have a fun time explaining the very out of place last ten minutes of the game, and the relay explosions.
Again, I'm just really excited to see what they cook up, as they have a lot of time to make something really brilliant.

Free is the way to go for this, and they will get more long term sales and less bioware boycotters because they are treating the consumer with respect, and honesty.

EA should be getting their gold plated "Poop Award" any day now, so I'm really interested to see if they respond to it & promise to work on fixing things for the consumer, or if they'll just try to ignore it by sweeping that award under the rug.
BTW, That's really bad when you can take that dubious crown away from Bank of America.
Anyway, you can read the full article at Comsumerist Magazine, right here.....

Nope after DA2 and ME3 they dont make RPGs any more
After replaying the game and seeing that what you pick as you play dose not matter in what you say in a lot of the game

Here we got a company who already has finished their game and shipped it, they have collected top reviews everywhere, excellent meta score, raked in the sales, and has finished this trilogy.
STILL now they go back to work and spend an unknown amount of time and money to create this and give it to the fans.
I've not finished ME3 yet so obviously I don't have any opinion on if this was needed or not. But they didn't *have* to do it. Most would not have bothered. But they did.
If that isn't being dedicated to their fans then nothing is. They sure deserve both the sales and the ratings. I'm proud to be a BioWare fan.

As for setting a precedent yeah, publishers and developers are going to be more careful when they promise certain things and market their game on those promises.
I don't think its going to cause anything crazy to happen with future games.
I'm interested to see how the kickstarter games turn out. Funded by the fans for the fans. If that works we're going to finally start seeing some really unique and interesting games. Not to mention the revival of some "dead" genres that big publishers don't want to take a chance on.

Bitter comments aside I really feel this is a sad date for the gaming industry, as you have seen there have already been other rallys of fans gathering against developers due to this which can only lead to bad things. If this is what the gaming community consists of I personally want nothing to do with gamers. I know not all gamers are guilty but it really gives us a bad rep.

If anything it will make developers and publishers more careful and take more time with certain things, like not rushing an ending etc.
Also it shows that someone at EA or Bioware actually cares about the fans who keep them in business. I think its a great day for gaming and gamers.

I am among those who wanted more closure about the series, because it really is lacking. You haven't seen the glaring plotholes in the ending, and those are enough to annoy those who invested so much time on the games. As I've said before, the games are all great. And that is why it deserves an equally good ending. Not one that is riddled with plotholes and WTF moments.

People saying this is bad for gaming should take heart that it could also mean that devs will also have to lift their game in the writing dept. and that the fans will take them to the cleaners if they try to get away with shoddy work.
Sure, some of the comments by fans have been frankly petulant (putting it mildly) and cynical today. It's not something I, as a big fan of Mass Effect, am proud of, let me tell you. That said, nobody is seriously expecting an ewok dance party happy time rewrite- seriously folks, sad endings are ok (Rockstar did it right), we just want a coherent end that makes f*cking sense.

I remain intrigued as how they are going to patch up the mass of plot holes and incoherent nature of the last ten minutes.
I am really surprised they didn't just go with the fan made indoctrination theory. Which for a while I was convinced was how Bioware wrote it, mainly because I couldn't believe Biowares writers all had strokes for the last ten minutes and completely forget their own established lore:P
I also want to know how they are going to explain Shepards gasp after he was incinerated after the destroy ending.
I eagerly await this though as I have no idea what to expect and it has me pretty excited.

If the ending is to be taken at face value, honestly I have no idea how anyone at Bioware wrote such nonsense.

They did say it was not the end of Sheppard, but that could have been referring to additional DLC for this game.
LikeI said before, wait and see what they deliver. interesting though that they are releasing something in a short amount of time post launch of the game. Maybe they had this in mind, but only they know where, what, and why.
Heres hoping MOST will be content. Keep Playing!

sorry bioware and EA but too little too late the dammage is already done!
you should of done this in the game already!
whole game stinks of severely rushed which really pisses me off!
i could understand if this was a unproven IP or something, but come on this is one of THE biggest franchises of the generation!
it was one of the most anticipated games of the year!
i really thought EA would of given bioware as much time as they wanted to perfect it, not rush it out and fix it up later.
i hope they learn their lesson from this.
moral of the story being if your going to release a broken game and fix it later dont release a game at all!
no point sleeping with your bosses wife then apologizing your still going to get fired!

I only finished ME3 last weekend and knew about the outrage (which I side with but not so venomously) and I doubt there's any type of cut scene that will make up for Biowares mistakes.
As long as the choices we made in ME2 and ME1 (for the xbox lads), aren't accounted for in the final ending to ME3, we're all gonna remain pretty pissed off and rightly so
