Desmond To Have A Bigger Role In Assassin's Creed III
Although Desmond is technically the protagonist in all Assassin's Creed titles (he's the dude whose memories we always explore, after all), he's never a focal point.
And let's face it, most fans didn't really like playing as Desmond, anyway. We wanted to play as his crazy capable assassin ancestors! That's where the fun was. However, it seems that despite a new assassin ancestor in Connor, Assassin's Creed III will boast even more scenes with the modern-day character.
According to CVG, lead writer Matt Turner said Desmond remains a "big part of the story."
"All I can say about Desmond's story is you're going to experience more Desmond than you've ever had before. We're spending more time on the present than we have in past games. It's a big part of our story and I don't really want to give too many details away because I want people to experience what that is. But rest assured, you're going to see a lot of Desmond. More so than in any past game."
Well, so long as his gameplay sequences are interesting. They've never been too bad in the past, but they've always paled in comparison to the actual gameplay, which involved someone like Ezio and a timeless city like Rome. The other big problem playing with Desmond is that you're always in the current time, which just seems boring after exploring historical vistas that encouraged full immersion.
But maybe Ubisoft has a few tricks up their sleeve for making Desmond's sections more appealing...

I actually liked the Revelations sequences! It was a nice change of pace!
But the music and atmosphere when in Constantinople or Rome... well, that's kind of a hard to beat atmosphere... for any segment of any game.

Im really interested to see how HIS story ends, if the war with abstergo ends or continues. Im sure since Ubi will want to make more AC since it is so popular that the war will be on going but anything is possible.
Im ready to see Desmond in action.

I'm looking forward to it either way. I won't pass any judgement until I play it.

could of swore i read this story weeks ago!
aaaaaaaaanyway........
so it f*cking better!
im still a little miffed on this being another go back to the past memories and find something else, instead of fleshing out ACs real story which is finding the pyramids and stopping the end of the world.
i really thought that was what this game was going to be about, especially after the ending of revelations and where desmond says i know what i have to do know.
whats that?
go back in and do what you have been doing for the past few years!?
eh, whatever, as long as they put the glyphs in AC2 back, have heaps of massive cool buildings to climb, and it has a in depth story like AC2 ill be happy.
especially the story, AC2 had one of the best stories ever put into a game!
really missed that quality in the past few games.......

I really hope III feels different than the last 4 games and not just look different.

I have no doubt that Desmond's role in AC3 will be right on. Ubisoft has created an incredible depth of story through this series and I totally trust what they're doing with the Desmond character.
