Lost Planet 3 Surfaces Out Of Nowhere

The last game didn't do exceedingly well on sales charts, and it didn't score exceedingly well, either.

And yet, Capcom wants to give us another: A new trailer for the previously unannounced Lost Planet 3 has surfaced and perhaps surprisingly, it's definitely encouraging. As you can see, they're going back to the frozen tundra common in the first title (the sequel had more jungle/forest environments).

The only issue in the eyes of many is the developer. Spark Unlimited has produced several games in the past, but none of them have been massive hits; there's Legendary, Call of Duty: Finest Hour, and Turning Point: Fall of Liberty...so maybe that doesn't instill one with a lot of confidence. But really, this trailer isn't bad.

Lost Planet 3 should arrive some time next year. In the meantime, here's hoping Capcom can find a way to restore some former glory to its name. The fighting games are still coming up big, but other major franchises and titles are becoming questionable...

In LP2 we could play the entire storyline in coop, and that made the game pretty fun. Especially the boss fights with 3-4 players had its hilarious moments.

Gonna be interesting to see how LP3 turns out to be!

I really loved Lost Planet 2. It had a really addicted quality to it. The coop was super fun, and before they patched it and made it easier, boy was it a challenge.

I hope this doesn't turn out like Racoon City, otherwise I'm super excited.

i wish capcom would just make a new onimusha... or at the very least make and HD collection of the first 3, or as a bonus the 4th one too

I don't understand how Dawn of Dreams never hit the PC. But damn, It was possibly the most EPIC Onimusha!

Um yeah, that's one way to return to glory! Great trailer! Now, all they need to do is ADD-ON MP and not make it the focus. SP/COOP should be the ultimate focus for LP3. I never played LP2 but LP1 was really fun! Also, release a complete game and then do the inevitable DLC onslaught.

LP2 had great coop play! Actually I'm not even sure if LP2 had any other multiplayer (pvp) at all.

Apparently, when Capcom was going over Sparks resume all they saw was Call of Duty and ignored they developed Legendary and Turning Point. :p

Wanted any Western developer familiar to shooters good or bad.

Didn't like LP2, probably the first coop in recent memory I didn't like.

Lol Jawk!

Have to admit though, the last Lost Planet was pretty good graphically I thought. It did look slick enough. I tried the demo a few times but never really got into it... Can't remember now why the reviews were so bad for it though!

Q!

I was largely disappointed with LP2's story mode - but I did enjoy the first one. God I hope they can rekindle this series.

Not too crazy about this trailer...

sweet!
really looking forward to this i loved the first two!
i just hope they tone down the cheapness of it though.
LP2 has got to be the most infuriating rage quit game ive EVER played!
the later train level for instance, i must of replayed that like 600 times!!!!!!!!!
not exactly fun playing the same thing day in day out for months on end!

Nice CGI, there...

I sure hope they go back to having the single-player being about SINGLE-PLAYER. I loved the first game and was hyped for the second entry, but then I played it at PAX, and again in the demo, and all my enthusiasm vanished. Dismal sales are what you get when you completely change the focus of a successful franchise. Hopefully they learned their lesson.

Super exited for LP3
LP2... It's was fun but the multiplayer was garbage. I go away for a few months hop back on it. Everyone has a upgraded energy gun!!
Hope the multiplayer is the same as the 1st lost planet.
Sniper Rifles, shotguns. All day!!
