RE6 Pushed Up Due To "Positive Fan Reaction To Trailer"

It isn't often you hear about games being moved up on the release list.

But one of the most anticipated titles of 2012 has indeed jumped closer. Resident Evil 6 was initially given a release date of November 20, but Capcom has announced that the hotly anticipated "dramatic horror" game will now launch on October 2.

Executive producer Hiroyuki Kobayashi said this was due to "positive fan reaction to January's announcement trailer for the game." Evidently, that reaction lit a fire under the developer, and they've worked to bring us RE6 a good seven weeks early. We've heard that Capcom has around 600 people working on the ambitious project and hopefully, their efforts will be rewarded with high review scores and big sales. ...we're trying to be optimistic here.

But at the same time, we have to wonder if Capcom missed some of the negative reactions generated by that trailer. It seemed, to us at least, that a great many long-time fans of the franchise were none too pleased with the obvious action-oriented direction the franchise has taken. But even so, it wasn't enough of a backlash to perturb Capcom, as they're clearly excited about their biggest offering in 2012.

nah, fear of COD! nov 20th would put them right in that favorite COD release window, would it not? im not a big COD fan but it crushes whatever games release along side of it!

I think Capcom will get another "fire from the fans positive reactions" after Rockstar confirms that GTAV will release in October

Yeah, the best thing to do when people seem to like how a game looks is not to take your time to make sure the game works great. Its to rush it to market!

The previously released trailers brought no excitement for me. And the new "captivate" trailer, doesn't look much better either. Wesker Jr.? No thanks.

I think they are scared of all the massive titles that launch in November every year. CoD anyone?

Even if you say the nicest thing you could round these parts you'll end up with a thumbs down or two prolly just random people doing it, idk, haha. No big. And I think you're right those 3 letters don't sit well either. But let's be honest, I'm a fan of RE and I really enjoyed RE5. But come on all the RE fans are at least worried about the future of the series. So Capcom really has not other reason to move it out of November, when big name titles show up, other than they don't want to compete. Particularly with CoD!

I think RE6 will do fine though regardless, it has it's followers and fans, and honestly the more action oriented the more attention it will grab.

I saw the trailer earlier today and I'm just not feeling it. I have to borrow RE5 just to see where they go with the story in a while, a long while. I can hope that is almost good as RE4, can't I?

Play with a friend and you'll have some great fun with it. It's good alone, but obviously a friend is far more help than babysitting the friendly AI.

I tried the RE5 demo and hated it so much I didn't even bother with the full version of the game. I was a HUGE Resident Evil fan up through part 4 (who wasn't?!) and to have such an abrupt drop-off in interest from long time fans like me speaks volumes about Capcom's choice of direction for the series. Really hoping they get back on track with 6.

Sun spider- no problem. I played with a buddy from te start and we had a great time with it.

Telly- But what does it say when fans of RE like myself was able to enjoy RE5? I'm not saying it's the best RE, nor am I saying its what we always got out of a RE game... But it's still enjoyable, unless you let you're hate for the direction they took, blind you.

You're probably right, Bigrailer. RE5 actually got some good reviews and I heard good things from friends. It still doesn't appeal to me but I should give it another chance before 6 comes out.

i'd rather have a delay than a push up on the release date.
but i guess capcom figures it's better to rush a game rather than delay it.

horror wise this game will suck donkey balls!
however that said who does not enjoy a blowing zombies heads off?
as much as i hate to say it RE is turning more and more into dead rising!
and sadly people will b*tch till their faces are blue, all the way to the store!
as cliffy B said haters will hate all the way to the store.

I literally have not seen a single positive reaction to that trailer posted. Anywhere.

I'm trying to stay optimistic. Even if it isn't a spooky haunted house story like we all desperately want it to be, it could still be a good game with some scares. I'll try to keep an open mind, even if what I've seen so far looks... questionable... (did I really see that zombies can shoot guns in this game? For crying out loud...)

Gotta give props to Capcom... at least they REACTED to fans unlike Square Enix (where's my FFvXIII, FFXHD and the legendary FFVII remake???)...

Why take the time to make a great game when DLC can make Capcom more money? /sarcasm/

I for one will wait for the news that Capcom will be charging for DLC already on the disc. Not looking to good for the RE series (in my eyes).

i smell fear of other games, if i know naughty dog they usual release their games around november sometime so the last of us could be that month, cod also. if they were listening to fan then they would go back to their roots for the franchise instead of what they think we want maybe they should take their time to give us something were all happy about.
