Demon's Souls Online Servers Disappear At The End Of May

Well, you've got your fill by now, right? Besides, Dark Souls is out now, so you should get with the times.

Publisher Atlus confirmed to Game Informer that the online servers for Demon's Souls will be shut down on May 31 at 11:59 p.m. PDT. But as a going-away present of sorts, Atlus has two World Tendency events planned for next month; they'll run for two weeks each, May 1-15 and 16-31 respectively. They'll be based on fan votes, by the way, so if you're interested, get your vote in now. Said Atlus vice president of sales and marketing Tim Pivnicny:

"Regrettably, the online servers cannot be sustained forever and now the end draws near. Thank you to the unparalleled passion and support of the Demon's Souls community throughout these last two and a half years. The online adventure may end soon, but the memory of it--just like that of every boss strategy, every level floor plan, and hidden secret--lives on in the gamers for whom the game was so special."

There's no doubt that Demon's Souls will go down as one of the most impressive games of the generation.

I barely played Demon Souls when I got it. It's still sitting in my stack right next to the machine. Maybe I should boot it up before the servers go down. And now that Dark Souls has been confirmed for PC, I'll be sure to grab that one as well when it releases.

I plaid it for at least 6 hours and it never budged an inch so I ditched it.

Yeah, the game can be played compleatly offline... you just wont have the online components (Messages from other players, seeing their ghosts, invading other peoples games and what not.)

Yes, you don't actually have to play online to play the game.

THat sucks! the online portion of the game is fantastic. There were some parts of the game that I would not have been able to pass if it weren't for the assistance of some fellow adventurers. I'm only half way done! I'm going to play this non stop before the servers go down...I need all the help I can get :(

Wow, that was fast. I haven't even had time to check the game out yet...

I guess that's the new in thing, if you don't play it within three months of release, you have no business playing it at all, shutting down servers of even popular games within a couple of years of release...
