Rumor: Crysis 3 A "Sandbox FPS," Set In New York City
Crysis 2It hasn't been officially announced, but yesterday's leak is enough to convince us that Crysis 3 is coming.
And as excited as we are, we're definitely searching around for any fresh details. Apparently, we can find a few of those at WCCF Tech: First and foremost, the setting of the new sci-fi shooter should be New York City and secondly, we could be looking at more free-roaming, as they're calling it a "sandbox FPS." Lastly, they say the game has a tentative release window of Spring 2013, and that aforementioned official unveiling will come on April 15.
Now, all this sounds quite feasible and there's no reason for us to discount it, but without an actual cited source, we still have to call it a rumor. However, don't be surprised if all that info is 100% accurate; we fully expect Crytek to deliver in a big way...even if I'm not all that crazy about the "sandbox" approach. Some of us happen to treasure linearity for its pacing and storytelling traits and besides, won't Far Cry 3 be open-ended enough? Well, there's always the next Call of Duty.
Anyway, that's all subjective. I have no doubt Crysis 3 will be bad-ass through and through.

its a shame crysis 2 did not sell that well its by far one of the best games weve seen this generation!
if theres one game out there that deserves to knock COD off its seat its this!

I bet it will be something in between. A middle road. Open enough for us to get a chance on trying different routes, yet tight enough to maintain the narrative at the level of the first two. I have faith in Crytek when it comes to shooters. They know their stuff.
