Dishonored Debut Trailer Will Leave You Wanting More

Last year, Bethesda announced Dishonored, a first-person adventure that seemed like a cross between Assassin's Creed, Bioshock, and Fallout.

We were intrigued then; now we're flat-out excited. The debut trailer for this ambitious title has arrived today and with it, a whole lot of pleased responses from gamers everywhere.

In development at Arkane Studios, you will have the option of killing from the shadows or facing your enemies head-on (both are displayed in vivid detail in this video), and you will be in a dark, futuristic world with steampunk overtones and guards parading about on giant metal walkers.

We still don't have a release date for this one, but we know we want to learn more. The combination of distinct gameplay elements from several different genres is definitely intriguing, and provided the developer can nail down the mechanics and control (and we get a great story), Dishonored should be pretty damn incredible.

Impressive! The title makes me think military shooter. I don't why companies reveal and debut trailers before E3.

The first-person gameplay just instantly turns me off...wish it was 3rd persion :/ Other than that it looks really good.

I'm with you on that score. It's not a complete dealbreaker for me, but it takes something really special (like Bioshock) for me to get over my aversion to first person perspective.

That being said, maybe this game will be something really special. The trailer is certainly promising.

That was pretty awesome with the exception of the "revenge solves everything" line. I know that's a theme of the game....but after just reading the Jade Raymond article they needn't state it.

If revenge did solve everything, then that would be a great exploit for getting through math classes. I would've loved that in high school.

"How do you solve this quadratic equation?"
"REVENGE!"
"Damn... he's right."

I'm feeling Thief + Assassin's Creed + some Bioshock, and a Bethseda'ishness to it. Concept appears to be cool, but the proof will be in the play. First person will be tricky in a game like this. A game where spacial awareness is highly important. I'm interested to see how they attack those challenges.

As soon as I saw that it had some Steampunk influence, I immediately fell in love. I adore Steampunk style and have been waiting for something like this. Officially psyched for this game!

While the trailer is good, it makes little difference as to what the gameplay will be like. When will companies figure out that real in game footage is what people actually want to see.
