Black Ops II Looking To Make Significant Multiplayer Strides

Obviously, Call of Duty's most popular feature is its online multiplayer, which is why developer Treyarch is paying such close attention to this aspect of Black Ops II.

In speaking to OPM and as cited by CVG, multiplayer designer David Vonderhaar talks about how the team will deliver the very best online experience possible for the fans.

Right now, all we know is that the multiplayer will take place in the same universe as the campaign; the near-future of the year 2025. Well, duh. But "firm details" won't be revealed until later and in the meantime, Vonderhaar was content to tease us with a couple primary points: First, the influence eSports has had. It seems Treyarch is very interested in the sheer number of people who both play competitively and watch competitive gameplay, so that may have a big impact. Secondly, the team has been looking at developments with social media and social gaming, "particularly when it comes to optimizing user navigation tools."

For the latter, you can probably use your imagination. But the point is, don't expect the multiplayer in Black Ops II to be more of the same ol', same ol'. That might be an erroneous assumption.

Well to be honest, Black Ops was not very good online, it was kind of a mess. So let's hope they do make some changes. Starting with the unbalanced weapons. I hope they make it different enough to not feel like the MW games but it definitely needs to be more well executed than Black Ops.

But I'm more looking forward to the campaign, I'm always intrigued by the way Treyarch handles the stories and setting.

Hope so. Maybe there's something wrong with me but I thought the trailer sort of looked like crap at times. Animations looked off. The Metal Gear things looked like crap compared to Kojima's designs. IDK, I like the bold idea to do something different, but the quality appears to be behind the times.

I think this game was born out of a 16 hour long Metal Gear Solid gaming session while the team was on LSD.

I hope they follow the esport formula. Games that become esports are for the most part really balanced. I thought Black Ops multiplayer was infinitely more balanced than MW2, and MW3s but there were still balance issues they could have worked on.

Here's to hoping that CoD multiplayer starts requiring more skill and less luck and reliance on aim assist and kill or death streaks. Fingers crossed.

I said to myself that Im gonna rent this one, but Im so curious to how this MP is gonna work it has me so confused towards the outlook they are taking. If they were to somehow bring stopping power back then it would day one purchase for me. But I guess you dont need it anymore due to the fact that this is futuristic warfare lol. The guns mite be way to overpowered in this game xD. Anyways spoiler alert!!!!!! That dude you see running around in the trailer is Woods son I think O.o

I swear every time a new CoD game comes out I say to myself I am not getting it...then they say something about it that makes me want to change my mind and I get it to only be left disappointed again. But I will be getting this one only because the first one had the best campaign in any CoD game or FPS imo and I'm feeling that this one will top the first black ops. So people say nobody gets the CoD games for the story? Well some do!

I have no problem looking forward to Blops 2 after taking a year off and not getting MW3. I don't get why the CoD haters critque the game for "not changing" then when they try to advance the series with non-linear branching missions, a near future and very plausible setting, and a game that actually continues the story of the first Blops it gets critiqued for using the same engine.

Here's something: I applaud the branching missions, but it might be too little too late to try to get people into the single player who now buy the series solely for the multiplayer.

Find a way to fix all the holes left open to hackers and glitches then the multilayer will be balanced. I quit playing Cody multilayer long ago because all the idiots just ruined it. Then they have the nerve to say their skilled. Cheating does not make you skilled it makes you a douchebag.
