Prototype 2 DLC: New Weapons, Powers, Custom Skins

Prototype 2 is almost too much fun to ignore.

And if you've been having fun with the shamelessly insane sandbox action game, you'll probably want to grab the upcoming extra content, revealed today.

The first downloadable content pack, entitled Colossal Mayhem, is now available while the second set of DLC, Excessive Force, will arrive on May 29. Both packs will retail for $4.99 and offer players new weapons, powers, and custom skins. Here are the details:

Colossal Mayhem Pack

  • Thermobaric Boom-Stick
  • Warp Vortex Force Multiplier Power
  • Anti Gravity Field Force Multiplier Power
  • Air Time Force Multiplier Power
  • Heller Test Subject Skin
  • Infected Heller Skin
  • Infantry Heller Skin

Excessive Force Pack

  • Viral Infector Grenade Launcher
  • Shockwave Force Multiplier Power
  • Chaos Creator Mode Force Multiplier Power
  • Medusa's Wrath Force Multiplier Power
  • Armored Heller Skin
  • Agile Armor Alex Mercer Skin
  • Zombie Mercer Skin

If you picked up the Collector's Edition of the game, you can now redeem your code to receive the Colossal Mayhem pack for free. See, there's some benefit to springing for those pricey bundles.

As excited as I was for this game and do still plan on picking it up I'd rather wait for a complete edition with everything in it for $40

You are so right Ben, it's just too much fun to ignore.

My favorite games of the generation are Infamous and Infamous 2... So when I played the first Prototype, I didn't enjoy it. I think Infamous had a lot to do with it. I think I was comparing them too much, and I wasn't able to focus on the strong points of Prototype. Plus it was hard from going out of my way to be good in Infamous, to being a scumbag in Prototype, and following the story after murdering 1000's of people. It just didn't make sense.

And while that hasn't changed in Prototype 2 (it still hard to get on Heller's side when I'm murdering so many people in horrible, horrible ways) I realized that I had to just focus on creating destruction, and having fun with it. I was ready to give it up after the first couple hours, until I started powering up and actually feeling the power.

Towards the end of the game I was just in love with the gameplay. I don't think I have ever felt more in control and powerful in a game... not even in Infamous.

Infamous is still the better game to me, but Prototype possibly beats Infamous when it comes to just creating destruction and feeling powerful.

meh.
i took prototype 2 back the day i finished it, which was the day after i bought it!
if there is one game out there that defines the more DLC pack than sequel term its this!
animations, enemies, levels, almost everything is recycled from the original!
so disappointed because the franchise has so much potential!
i wish antivision would sell off the IP, $ony buys it and puts santa monica on it!
oh god imagine the brutality and extreme violence and scale of GOW in a game like prototype!
