Dark Souls, Ace Combat Fuel Positive Namco Bandai Results
Not all Japanese publishers are facing dark days.
Namco Bandai has enjoyed its best fiscal year since 2008, and this positive performance is due in part to the critically acclaimed Dark Souls.
From Software's award-winner sold 1.19 million copies in North America and Europe (remember that Namco Bandai did not distribute the game in Japan), and in another solid showing, Ace Combat: Assault Horizon topped the million plateau as well (1.07 million). Other notable titles for the publisher were Tales of Xillia (770,000), Dragon Ball Z: Ultimate Tenkaichi (700,000), and Soul Calibur V (690,000). Perhaps with slightly better review scores, the latter could've done better given the high-profile status of its name.
All told, Namco Bandai took in revenue of 454.2 billion yen ($5.7 billion), which is up 15% in the year-over-year comparison, and net profits were also up to 19.3 billion yen ($241.8 million). So they're lookin' good for now.

Ridge racer for Vita might have been a positive as well, had they not charged full price for an empty game and then sold the cars and tracks needed at a ridiculous up-charge. That up-charging resulting in gamers effectively spending more than they would on a full price PS3 title to get a fairly basic version of Ridge Racer running on the Vita...

I have to admit though, it wasn't the same storyline and experience that the ace combats from the PS2 days where, but it was still a solid game.
