Beyond Good & Evil 2: Our First Glimpse At A Next-Gen Title?

It was recently revealed by renowned creator Michel Ancel that Beyond Good & Evil 2 is most certainly still in development. Excellent.

But many are thinking that, at this rate, the long-awaited sequel may be primed for the next generation of consoles. It seems to be a long ways off, and the new systems from Sony and Microsoft can't be more than a few years away, right? It wouldn't be the first time a game has had to cross over generation gaps.

The leaked trailer - which many have been discussing for some time - is below and although it doesn't necessarily look "next-gen" (depending on your expectations), it does appear to blend the best of many different worlds. We don't know about you, but we're catching hints of everything from Uncharted to Mirror's Edge to Assassin's Creed. Maybe it takes a lot of extra power to get things running properly with amazing visuals behind it; you might want to check out the supposedly leaked image. Not too shabby there.

Well, this generation or next, we really don't care. Just get it done.

Looks great, they seem to be delivering on that more inspired 3rd person viewpoint already and are farther along in than I had suspected. I'd prefer to see it this generation, I just hope the team working on it decides that they can't have any Assassin's Creedlike screen tearing. That would sort of wreck this kind of game.

The screenshot doesn't really look any better than the best looking games of the current generation.

The trailer looks awesome though. Looks like a cut scene and not actual in-game graphics.

I hope Jade's still going to be utilizing her camera skills in BG&E 2.

Keep in mind though that the first few games that launch on the next generation aren't going to be much better then the current games on this gen. I can remember some PS2 games that look as good as or even better then some of the early PS3 games. There were a few exceptions of course, (cough..uncharted...cough) but there wasn't a huge leap forward until certain developers were able to grasp the technology and set the standard higher. Then everyone started pushing the envelope a bit more....

But like Ben said, even of the graphics aren't better, there is a lot going on in that short teaser which would definitely affect things like frame rate...

I've never played the first one though, is it a game worth looking into?

It is a fun game, it's more adventure than action, has a cool world and story, and has plenty of variety in the gameplay. There's a demo on PSN.

I played my Xbox version on one of my TV inputs and the HD updated demo on another and the upgrade was significant.

I played the first on PC and never thought it was anything special, but there's a lot of people liking it. I'd most definitely try the demo first though.

Wow, the camera movement! Notice how it's got this hand held camcorder style. Very nice detail indeed.
Also, nice animations and physics. Yeah. looks good.

Really reminds me of a mix of Jason Bourne, District B13, and a little bit of Ong Bak.

Which means I'm really looking forward to this, if the actual game plays out anything close to whats in this video.
