Assassin's Creed III Gameplay Debut: The Cost Of Our Freedom
If you're an Assassin's Creed fan, you'll probably love the gameplay premiere for the upcoming third installment.
...hell, if you're a gamer at all you'll probably love this.
Asssassin's Creed III tackles the Revolutionary War and a complex, conflicted hero who is half Native, half British. Going by the name of Connor, he fights for freedom, and that doesn't necessarily mean he has to choose a side. In this gameplay debut - which features "pre-alpha gameplay" - we watch as Connor runs, climbs, and fights in a harsh, unforgiving terrain filled with snow and bullets. The whole thing will give you goosebumps.
The video also gives you incentive to pre-order the hotly anticipated and potentially groundbreaking title at GameStop. Those who already did have received a steelbook case for the game, but now you can also get some extra content: Access to a new single-player mission, the Lost Mayan Ruins, and a new unlockable weapon, the sawtooth sword. Nice!

I agree on the voice though, the voice actor in this one doesn't sound quite right to me. It would be neat if they added someone in that has a Native American accent to it instead. Not the thick accent, but just enough of a twang to give you the idea of his descendents.
Maybe it's just me, but that whole part of the speech about being totally free It's would sound so much better coming from a Native American.. But maybe that's just the way I'm picturing it...

Although it would have been interesting to see a character working for the Brits discover Templars on both sides attempting to create a new nation by creating a conflict with ambitions of controlling the world with a new empire. Maybe Ubi will do that. lol. But doubtful.
As for the anti-brit thing, well, it was obviously predictable but we shall see if Ubi has some hidden cards to play to create some twists. Others have pointed out that Ubi is a French Canadian company. Yep, I am Canadian and can confirm that. lol. And yes there is no love of the English in Quebec. But whether that REALLY is something people should consider I don't know. Games can be political and have been, but again, the context dictates an anti-brit position. That said no once during the American Revolution was innocent. In all wars and events that lead up to them, both commit atrocities or injustice, just comes down to who wins and writes history.
Anyway, Ubi probably has more to reveal before launch that should broaden the story and its theme. If Ubi doesn't that will be when I am disappointed. I hate games and gameplay when it gets too predictable.... before I have even played them.
The dialogue in the vid was flat and not engaging. Seemed thrown together but I think many don't care. Its early days. Its the game and gameplay dynamics that matter .
And no its not the last AC. Its called making money and Ubi already has hinted as to what they want to do. Well, vaguely. Again though, they might surprise us and it probably will be next gen. Before that I am sure will will see umpteen additions to AS3 to expand the story and most of it will mulitiplayer maps. Online commerce works.
Lets see what they do.
Keep Playing.
