EA To Announce Battlefield Premium Service At E3

Most have assumed that EA was considering a Call of Duty Elite-like service for the vaunted Battlefield franchise.

Now, it appears that EA will indeed announce a similar program at E3 2012. This news comes from Battlefieldo and if accurate, the official announcement drops on June 4. That just so happens to be the date of EA's E3 2012 press conference. Here's part of the leaked description:

"Battlefield Premium will land you a number of content drops with unique in-game items not available anywhere else. First out is the one-of-a-kind Premium knife and black dog tag, plus a set of soldier camos, weapon camos, dog tags and Assignments that will make sure you stand out and get more personalization options."

The report also lists dates for upcoming new content, including the currently unofficial fifth expansion pack. The new Close Quarters DLC will evidently launch on June 12, followed by additional content in August. Then there's the third expansion, Armored Kill, in the fall, and the fourth expansion, End Game, set for this winter.

So if you prefer Battlefield over Call of Duty, this is obviously the premium service for you. But let's wait for the details, shall we?

They're clearly not content with charging for all the servers that we play on (beyond the game's initial fee!)

good luck with that EA.

COD gives you the new maps ahead of the regular mappack dlc release dates and works out cheaper than buying the map packs individually when they come out over the life of the game - this is why it sells.

Dog tags,camo and a knife - whoooo

Meh, too little too late i put over 200 hrs in bf3 and got rid of it, they still did not fix the 360 version hd texture pack issues, thats 200 hrs of straight SD textures. Expantions are coming out waay too long. It was fun while it lasted i still squeezed my $60 out of it.

I can understand this... Honestly, it's better than blocking used games all together. At least they are working for the extra money. I really can't hate on them for this. it's obviously not mandatory so who cares. BF3 is fun regardless of any premium service or not. Great thing about battlefield is if i want the black dog tag. I just need to steal it a bunch of times. LOL. This is just like the whole "buy everything up front and be a master at bf3". I put in my work so it really has no affect on my gaming. Neither will this. I'm not sure if i'll pony up the cash for this but who knows. I guess time will tell if it's truly worth it or not.

I really don't know wtf is EA really doing right now, but whatever see how this plans out. Other than graphics I like BBC2 more often now.

The value of the premium membership lies in how much you play the game. I earn my rank ups and perks, I dont buy them.This game could well be the last shooter I buy. I bought the premium, its a great value for me.I still like BF2 and will go back to it now and then. I bought it late and I still have a lot to do.The games are not perfect but they are good enough and I have no need to be a server owner.
Im good to go.
