Psychonauts Developer, Sega Team Up To Deliver The Cave
Yes. On board we are.
A new effort from Monkey Island developer Ron Gilbert and Psychonauts studio Double Fine will be headed to the digital world early next year. The Cave, set to be published by Sega, will arrive on the PlayStation Network, Xbox Live Arcade, and PC.
If you're at all familiar with the work histories of those involved, you won't be surprised to learn that players will indulge in a dark, highly inventive fantasy world that consists of an amusement park, a medieval castle, and even a nuclear-tipped intercontinental ballistic missile. "Three unlikely adventurers," each with his or her own unique skillset, will take part in this creative side-scrolling quest and as such, it reminds us a little of Trine.
This is part of Sega's new focus on digital content; said senior vice president of digital business Haruki Satomi:
"As Sega continues to expand our digital gaming catalog, we've put a lot of effort into finding truly original experiences we can help bring to life. Both Ron and the team at Double Fine are experienced and deeply creative, and we value the chance to work with them on The Cave."
Well, if we can't get Psychonauts 2, we'll settle for something like this. There's no doubt that The Cave is suddenly one of our most anticipated downloadable games out there.
