PS3 News: Sony Europe Cuts 160 Jobs

Sony Europe Cuts 160 Jobs

We learned earlier this month that Sony Europe had planned to cut 160 jobs, and now we know which departments are going to suffer the axe.

According to ComputerandVideoGames, SCEE development teams Sony Liverpool (Wipeout, Formula One), Sony London (The Getaway, Home, SingStar), and Sony Cambridge (24: The Game, Primal, MediEvil) are losing some people. Liverpool and London are cutting about 50 jobs apiece, Cambridge cuts 20, and another 30 from general marketing, sales, and PR have disappeared.

The only question is: does this affect upcoming games like the new Wipeout and new endeavors like Home? We don't believe so, considering no mention of cancellations have been issued along with the job cuts, but we'll keep an eye on things. Let's hope it's just some good old-fashioned house-cleaning.
