PSXE User Review Contest: Face-Off Winner, Next Round Starts

Not sure when Sony should drop the Vita's price, but it would be a good bomb to drop in E3. That's a bit of a bitter pill to swallow for those who already have one (myself included), but we have to admit that the new portable is not really flying off the shelves. Couple that with a bunch of original games then Sony will do good, Vita-wise.

Seeing as Sony claims that the vita would have some 20 odd game announcements at E3 and that guy pachter was pretty excited for a game, couple that with a price drop and some great game announcements and the vita is sure to fly off the shelfs, especially if one as big Call of Duty and/or Assasins's Creed was announced.

I don't really mind the price of the Vita myself but I see how a person can be turned off by factoring in the price of a memory card and a game or two. If there is a price cut it should be now since you have a couple of good games coming out starting with Resistance on Tuesday. Not only a price cut but maybe include a memory card in all new Vitas just to get started.

Vita price is fine. Vita needs exclusive games (Gravity Rush) because to me its mimicking the ps3. No point spending 350..

Outside Gravity Rush, Escape Plan, and a few other exclusive Vita games, the system could use more games that are unique to it. Yes, that means only on the Vita and not even on the PS3.

The only problem with that is the moment a game makes it big in a handheld system, people would automatically ask for a console version. I lost count of the number of times I read people asking for Gravity Rush to be ported to the PS3.

I don't think there can be any debate as to wheter or not the Vita needs a price cut if one takes a cold, hard look at the sales figures. Vita sales have been described as sluggish at best. The main concern has to be the Japanese gaming market. We have more than enough data from that market to see the Vita has struggled in a region that has been very supportive of Sony's handhelds in the past. Weekly sales there have pretty horrific in Japan for ahwlie. I have heard excuses from Sony fans ranging from the recent ecologiical disasters to the Japapnese yen..,yet none of that has stopped Japanese gamers from buying a 3DS at a record breaking rate.

The Vita is a powerful system but it's up against a cheaper system that has a far superior line up of games at this point. Sony should agressively cut the Vita's price plus include a memory card with each system. That will help sales in the short time and restore some consumer confidence in the product until true system selling games come online. I do think consumer confidence in this product is an issue at this point. There seem to be a lot of gamers on the sidelines waiting things out. A price cut is only a temporary fix without great games, however. Games drive sustained hardware sales and that's probably the single biggest reason the 3DS is mopping the floor with the Vita right now.

As for when to cut the Vita's price. Holiday price drops have a long established history of success. I think that would be preferable because it would allow time for some major software releases to come online as well. I don't think a price cut alone will do it. The perception of the Vita is it has a major games issue. A price cut alone will not correct the lack of identity the Vita currently faces.

needs a hell of allot more than a price drop!
its funny at the start of last week EB dropped 50 bucks off the WIFI model and claimed for today only!
the day after it was still there.
the day after that it was still there.
a week later its still there!
why?
well, no ones going to spend 300 bucks on the vita with such overpriced accessories and overpriced games!
let alone lack of said games!

im afraid another issue its suffering, 99% of its games already being available on ps3 is not going away any time soon either.
sly this week was announced for it, theres very strong rumours for that crappy super smash brothers knock off coming over too.
than to add to that theres now listings on a EU game retailer for AC3 and future soldier on the vita too.
great, the ONE vita game i was looking forward to just happens to be a port of AC3, a game that will be available day and date on the ps3!
im starting to wonder if thats why infinite got delayed, so they could port it over to the vita and release it day and date.
if irrational announce the vita version of bioshock really is infinite there going to have one hell of allot of pitchforks to deal with!
