Rockstar Cooperating With Microsoft To Reveal GTAV At E3?

Everyone is assuming we'll see something about Grand Theft Auto V at E3.

And unsurprisingly, GameFly Media editorial director Garnett Lee does believe the developer will show off a GTAV trailer at the trade show next month. This information comes via his podcast as reported by Daily Game Deal.

Two other interesting details come out of that podcast: Lee thinks the game will hit this fall and on top of which, when Rockstar reveals the new trailer at E3, it will be in "cooperation" with Microsoft. ...but why? Doe this mean the trailer in question will be shown at Microsoft's press conference? Maybe that's the correct venue simply because GTA is huge in the west and...well, so is Microsoft. Then again, might there be another reason Rockstar sides with MS for our next look at the fifth GTA? It has nothing to do with exclusivity; that much, we're about 99.99% sure of.

Maybe everyone just expects big multiplatform titles to care more about Microsoft's audience here in the US. And that does make some sense.

maybe it's because microsoft payed big $$$ for them to reveal it on xbox? would not surprise me...

Both Microsoft and Sony has shown trailers for big multiplatform titles in their presentations at past E3s. Even gameplay. I just hope they don't pull a GTAIV with exclusive content.

The game is simply too huge for anyone to care about the exclusive content. It's like when PS3 gets exclusive content for Red Dead Redemption. No one cared much for the contents when the game is so large.

That's because the content were two towns that were desolate, had a couple of run down buildings and held no meaning to the game. So yea nobody should care about that.

Well, as long as we talk about timed content and not lifelong exclusivity I agree with Godsman. GTA5 should be so huge that there will be plenty to do before the DLC hit our shores anyways.

The GTA4 dlc didn't bother me much at all. It was slightly annoying, but nothing more than that. After all, we still got it eventually.
And if GTA5 is anywhere as stellar as I got a feeling it will turn out to be, well then I'll be playing this for a period not counted in weeks, but months.

Not gonna buy this game. After what they did giving us the bad version of RDR and the timed exclusive dlc episodes of GTAIV, R* clearly isn't giving me the same value that they give to the 360 owners to me when I pay the same price for their products.

Yeah I was quite disappointed with them in that respect, I understand it's all business but is that really how you treat the fans who prefer playstation? Still I will buy this because I they rarely disappoint, well, in a game.

do you honestly sit there and cry over the smallest things if its not exactly the same? please, theres more important things to worry about.

if the game was unplayable, or a major let down in anyway, I might say you have a point.

Yes we did get the inferior versions of GTA4 and RDR. It's very true we did not get the same value from Rockstar that 360 owners got. I definitely agree and would throw Bethesda on the list of developers that don't give PS3 owners the same value. Yes, very annoying and frustrating.

I'll still get GTA5 but I don't know which version I will get yet.

I have played GTA IV on both consoles and I agree the 360 got the better version. I easily forgave R* for that because the game was playable and I enjoyed it. Also GTA IV was made in the early days of PS3 and many developers were struggling to get a grip on PS3 development at that time.

However what I do not understand is what you guys are talking about when you say the PS3 version of RDR was inferior. I have also played that game on both consoles and they seem identical, it may load a little faster on the 360, but that's expected with the slow read speed of blu-ray. Can someone please explain how the PS3 version is inferior?

Well, M$, with the few amount of exclusives it has to announce, will definitely need a big multi-platform game to present at its show to keep it interesting, perhaps in hopes that some fool think it'll be only for Xbox or something. Ok, but really, it's annoying how the Xbox conference treat multi-platform games like it's exclusive to their console.

I started feeling like R* and MS were in some sort of "friendship" - or maybe it's just "business" - when GTA4 DLC was timed. That's really sad on R*' part. Ya lose a little respect for a developer when something like this happens (if it does , of course).

But regardless, 3rd party developers should not single companies out. It goes bigger than that, and the fans suffer, even when supporting the product. It's a terrible way to run a business, but still is a practice that gives the developer plenty of revenue. You know just in case some disgruntled fans part ways, because of timed exclusive practices and situations like this.

But I guess you can't blame them too much, Sony could offer money just as I'm sure MS did.

Well i don't hate MS but i do hate how they're willing to spend millions on timed exclusive instead of buffin up their crappy First Party titles... I mean, the company is bigger then Sony and only has like 4 exclusives

I support letting M$ pay Rockstar $50 million to have DLC released to them first. What if Rock* said to Sony and M$ we will make the DLC if you each pay $25 million or we are not nothing at all. So say Sony did give Rock* the $25 million but the Uncharted 2 budget got cut in half or even scraped just so GTA 4 could have DLC. I wouldn't want to even imagine that because really Uncharted was still not a sold product after the first one having the potential to be a masterpiece but not nailing the physics til UC 2 and polishing them to near perfection in UC3. We as Playstation gamers should support this because really Xbox live members are paying $80 a year or whatever it is to give these dev companies large budgets to make a superior product for all platforms while in the meantime Sony invests in their own studios that are exclusive to PS3 gamers. So we shouldn't be wanting to stop this marketing technic by M$ and it's ignorant gamers we should be supporting it dont hate a Xbox gamer thank them and tell them that they good peoples .

Good move by MS as much as I don't like them. Since they have little in terms of exclusives it makes sense for them to reveal a top notch franchise like it is exclusive. Works with COD.

I totally agree. Getting both the next GTA and COD on their stand is getting *the* two biggest franchises, with an enormous impact on the scene on "their team". It sends a giant smoke signal out to the console buyers out there: "Home of the giants, over here!".

Whether its timed dlc or not I don't have any issues with R playing favorites because they did the same with Sony when GTA was a timed release.

I call BS. Sure, MS pulled a swifty when they unveiled IV at their conference but it's now a given that it'll be multiplatform. They may get a boost from it, but it'd be a waste of time. Furthermore, R* hasn't been in attendance at E3 since '09 and IIRC, they've already been confirmed to not be showing up this year. And its already been heavily rumoured for a "fall" release.

Furthermore, why would this guy have insider info? I've heard of Gamefly, of course, but what is this media branch and have they ever released semi-confidential details that later came true before? Whatever, I'll believe it when I see it and not a second sooner.

Also, I like that almost every prior comment is reacting as though this is gospel truth. Sorry guys, had to say it.

not exactly surprising, M$ always tries to have the years biggest games at their conferences.
does not necessarily mean there will be any timed exclusive deals or anything like that.
they might have some of the actors in to show it off or something like what they did the betles rockband.

See the only problem I see with a lot of you commenting is this quote: "it's a business".

Stating the obvious, yet, irrelevant fact.

I, do not own shares in R* hense I don't give a fuc* it's a business nor should any gamer.

I, am however a simple gamer and, naturally when someone says that "you can have a part, of a product, not all of it" only becasue someone else paid more. I'm naturally offended.

You guys/gals kinda forget how it used to be in last gen. You know, WHEN PEOPLE ACTUALLY THOUGHT THINGS THROUGH!

They were either a multi or a single platform. All were happy. For it was established without any BULLLSH** politics that "nothing will be taken away from your game. It shall only be available to another platform".

You are 100% correct. This shouldn't be about satisfying a publisher or business partner. Games are made for the fans. You know the people who buy the games, and spend their money on product. Thats where the real revenue lies.

Not worried about any time exclusive DLC and as much as I like GTA I won't pick the game up until the complete edition comes out anyway.... cause you know there is gonna be one
