Square Enix E3 Lineup Confirmed, Final Fantasy Fans Bored

So we got Square Enix's official E3 presentation list today. ...and if you're a Final Fantasy fan, we have nothing for you.

Well, besides the bizarrely named Theatrhythm Final Fantasy for the Nintendo 3DS, which isn't garnering a whole lot of press and attention. Unfortunately, there's no mention of Final Fantasy Versus XIII or the rumored Final Fantasy XIII-3.

That being said, the publisher will be bringing several intriguing games to the show next week; here are the titles on tap for consoles and PC:

  • Quantum Conundrum
  • Sleeping Dogs
  • American Mensa Academy
  • Hitman: Absolution
  • Gameglobe
  • Tomb Raider

Tomb Raider was recently delayed until 2013 but we're still excited about it, and Hitman: Absolution could be one of the year's best (provided it's done correctly). We're also intrigued by Kim Swift's Quantum Conundrum, which reminds us a lot of Portal...and that in turn makes us very happy. Square Enix also plans to bring a horde of mobile games to E3, but we only report on real games.

Is anyone really surprised that we're not seeing Versus XIII? Nah.

Don't really want to hear about FF13-3 anyways. That would be really boring and more so annoying than anything.

I wonder if there will be booing if they reveal XIII-3? That would be hilarious.

Attention E3 attendees if SE unveils XIII-3 respond by a unanimous thunderous chorus of boos. That will send them a message.

I thought they were going to focus on FFXIV 2.0 details. Started playing XIV on PC again and really starting to like it. Only issue at this point is time investment.

As for FFvXIII, I think SE is more focused on getting XIV 2.0 and the PS3 version out. After the PS3 release of XIV, I think we'll hear more about Versus.

The same thing was said when ff XIII was finished;
"Now all resources will be diverted to ff versus XIII". By the end ff vs XIII wont even be a multiplatorm game,it'll be a ds exclusive!

oh my god these guys are just lazy i think.
final fantasy versus 13 has not been officially announced in the press conference.This game will not release for another 3 years i guarantee it.

At this point, three years almost feels optimistic. I get the sinking feeling that FF Versus 13 will never be released at all. Or that it will become the next Duke Nukem Forever, lingering forever in development purgatory.

To think Square has fallen so far.

This is so sad. To see this developer remain so clueless and disconnected. It reminds me of the many movies I have seen where there is this obsessed scientist working alone in a lab/basement with no connection to the outside world. They are dirty, disheveled and unshaven. They have bifocals on and are jumpy. Someone opens the door and they jump and squint at the light try to cover their face. This is exactly the picture I get when I think of Square Enix. Wow, that is a pathetic vision to project to your alienated fans.

I think I understand why we're not seeing Final Fantasy Versus XIII. It's a PS3 exclusive and Wada hates that. He hates the fact that Nomura doesn't want to budge on its exclusivity. Wada wants to release it on the 360 as well but Nomura is saying no. So, because of that, Wada is holding his game hostage until Nomura finally gives up.

Sad fate but it makes sense to me. Look at all the games being shown. With the exception of Theatrhythm Final Fantasy, all the big contenders (Hitman, Tomb Raider, Sleeping Dogs, etc.) are all multiplatform and cater to the West.

That's why we aren't seeing Final Fantasy Versus XIII. PS3 exclusive. That's why we're not seeing Final Fantasy X HD. PS3/Vita exclusive. That's why we're not seeing Final Fantasy Type-0. PSP exclusive.

Fine then, Square. Want to cater to the West? Be my guest. But don't be surprised when you start hemorrhaging fans. Fans that made you what you are today.

Maybe they're just holding off for an audience they deem to be more friendly to FF: TGS? I hope so, because Versus needs to be released last week.

Wow, Still nothing on FFvs13? Maybe TGS I suppose but I have been telling myself that for years now. Nothing Square does surprises me anymore. They have been ignoring FF fans for awhile...especially the veteran FF fanbase.

I have no interest in any of those games. I can't believe what SE has become, it is so sad. I wish they would just fire Wada already so the company can try to rebound, the longer he stays in power the less of a chance the company has for survival.

all i want from $E at E3 is some live gameplay of tomb raider!
and this time make it a decent length!
its so disappointing and worrying the games been announced for so long now but we still have seen pretty much zilch on it!
as for absolution meh, ive got a strong feeling its going to be another one of those mindless shooters!
sigh, another game abandoning its strict stealth roots thanks thats what we really needed!
because like theres not enough action games out there!
