Battlefield 3 Premium Confirmed, May Boast "Powerful Features"
These premium memberships seem to be awfully popular, so why not give it a shot?
There have been rumors concerning a "Premium" service for Battlefield 3; it would be a service that rivals the Call of Duty Elite option for die-hard CoD fans. Now, it's all but confirmed, as reported by Joystiq.
Earlier, leaks from Germany featured a lot of relevant details: First up, the service would require a one-time fee of $50 and this would bring BF3 fans "a variety of content," including access to all five of the present and future expansion packs, two weeks of early access to those packs, and "a host of unique in-game items not available anywhere else."
Then things get even more interesting, as apparently, Premium members will gain "access to powerful new features." How powerful, you ask? Well, maybe "the ability to reset stats" and "queue priority into servers," which means if you shell out the bucks, you'll get onto servers faster.
This might launch alongside the Close Quarters DLC on June 4 and after this leak, EA figured there's not much point in hiding it anymore:
"Looks like the excitement for Battlefield Premium cannot be contained. For details, please visit Battlefield.com on June 4."
Yeah, that's pretty much confirmed right there.

You young whippersnappers may wonder how we can consider such a 'premium' service to be worthy of the money. With news, reviews, rumors, art and demos easily available on the internet, how could we ever live in the golden days of gaming?
Although sure, such a premium subscription service back then is more or less a standard service now, the ability to actually get a physical item that you can keep for generations was what made the subscription back then truly worth the dough.
Now, however, if you subscribe to COD Elite, or whatever else EA has up their sleeves, you're only gaining access to digital perks, which will vanish the instant you unsubscribe.
Personally, I'd take a physical and permanent magazine over a virtual and temporary in-game bonus.
Although I love the Battlefield franchise, I will never buy extra DLC packs, or subscribe to a digital service that ceases to function the instant I stop paying.
Good luck EA, and I'm sure it'll be a major success. It's just not for me, and many other older gamers who still respect the value of a hard-earned dollar.

Ahhh, the great old days!!!!
Man oh man, I really loved those good old days where I could play demo discs for all of the upcoming games, while also getting all the latest info right on those free discs.
BTW, I still have all of my old "Official Playstation Magazine", my old "Playstation Underground" double-disc demo sets, my "Playstation Interactive Sampler Pack" demo discs, plus a slew of other various individual company's game demo discs that were sent to me by places such as Temco & Psygnosis.
But sadly, I rarely get anything in physical form from gaming companies this current gen.
(I do have to mention that the Starhawk crew were nice enough to send PS3 accounts some digital goodies just for being in the beta).
