EA On Dead Space: "We Listen To The Fans And We Hear Them"
Even if you're not willing to call Dead Space "survival horror," you have to admit it would definitely still qualify for a general "horror" label.
In truth, nobody has done it better this generation. And this is why EA doesn't want to disappoint the fans who have enjoyed this series for the thrills and chills; people love to be freaked out, after all.
In a recent CVG interview, EA Labels boss Frank Gibeau said the team has worked hard on the new cooperative-based angle in Dead Space 3. They also want to make it more "broadly appealing," which may make the die-hard fans a little nervous. But have no fear: The new co-op feature and the focus on reaching a wider audience won't make the developer sacrifice that much-needed horror element. Said Gibeau:
"We're very self aware of that - we listen to the fans and we hear them. We're going to be releasing more assets over the coming months that show you how deep the horror is. It's definitely not getting away from gore or horror, but at the same time it's opening up to a larger audience by adding some elements."
Interestingly enough, Gibeau cited the new Ridley Scott film, "Prometheus," as inspiration for the team. The bottom line is they still want the Dead Space IP to grow and although they've got a solid foundation, they want to continue to add new followers. Based on what we've seen of Dead Space 3 so far, they'll probably manage to do just that.

i can't imagine playing with another player and having the same Amont of horror and scares.
remember the level in deadspace 2, when the train crashes and your hanging there and a brute suddenly appears, wow! if u missed the shot the train falls and squashes u, amazing tension, and especially when your doing it on hardcore with the ability to only save it three times on the hardest setting,
Im worried that expect of the game will be lost.

god, just crash already!
crash now!
so we can go back to developers making games fans want, not what they think will sell!
this will be exactly like DS2 just worse.
it took away some of the scare and tension aspects of the original, and this will do it even more so.
sigh, its RE5 all over again!
lets make a deal, if DS3 is HALF as scary as dead space is ill give up gaming for good.
thats how confident i am this is going to be just another mindless shooter!
