MGS5 To Boast More In The Way Of "Infiltration And Espionage"
"Infiltration and espionage." The cornerstone of the Metal Gear Solid franchise.
And according to what master Hideo Kojima told a French source (as cited by IncGamers), Metal Gear Solid 5 will feature more in the way of both infiltration and espionage.
He also confirmed that the new game is running on the FOX engine and although he was intrigued by the idea of "social interaction" (as seen in last year's Deus Ex: Human Revolution), he didn't say if something like that would be seen in MGS5. Oh, and those of you who are erroneously thinking that Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance is some sort of blight on the franchise, Kojima reminds you again that it isn't a Solid Snake game "and it was never pitched to the public as a Metal Gear Solid title. It's a spin-off, plain and simple.
Lastly, did you know Kojima wanted to kill off the legendary icon in MGS4? ...that woulda sucked.

My point was that Kojima's story presentation is clearly obsolete, compared to the advances we have seen this generation. Don't tell me that a hell of a lot of cut scenes weren't badly edited and the some many conversations were much, much longer than they needed to be.

Well, you can sort of believe it, because it was like "OMG Snakes dead lol but not really. OMG HE REALLY IS but not really lolz."
...Atleast, that's how I remembered it. xD

Unless my memory is off Rising was definitely pitched to the public with the name "Metal Gear Solid: Rising". I like how he's distancing himself from it though, just in case things go south.
I think it would be cool to have some limited social interactions in a Metal Gear game just as a tactic for infiltration. I'm a big fan of social engineering.

There is not really much they can do with Metal Gear now, a story to tie up MGS3-MG1 (Which Portable Ops & Peace Walker both failed to complete!) or a remake of Metal Gear 1 & 2... There really is nothing left for the series, leave it be.

Still, as I've noted many times, I also hope there is a Metal Gear "Next" with entirely new characters. Maybe it even takes place in the Metal Gear universe but has a different title, a la Prometheus? Just a thought but interesting to think about.

Can't deny the premise sounds epic though you start playing as Big Boss and then is makes a transition into a remake of Metal Gear with Solid Snake, especially if they actually managed to keep it a secret before release like they did with Raiden in MGS2.
Many people talk about having a new story set within the same universe as Metal Gear I personally would not want that, I would just want Kojima to work on a fresh franchise instead. But I would accept a prequel as long as it is not set post MGS4 I really cannot express how wrong that would be.

And to the above who is complaining about Kojima's editing and long cutscenes etc, for me it still stands up there as the masterpiece of this current generation so far in terms of overall story and how MGS4 brings it all together, once you get hooked into the story there is no going back. I can appreciate at times they may feel a touch long, but you really can't say 'Kojima has some catching up to do' in terms of story progression. He's the one who set the benchmark in the first place.

Yes. I believes he's metioned this several times in the past. He said all of his staff was against the idea so he eventually gave in.
