EA Teams Up With Dreamworks, Need For Speed Movie Coming
In all honesty, I'm surprised this hasn't happened yet.
Another one of video game's most iconic industries will be making its way to the big screen. Electronic Arts and Dreamworks have announced a partnership that will bring "Need for Speed" to movie theaters in 2014.
Dubbed a "fast-paced, high-octane film rooted in the tradition of the great car culture films of the '70s," they still plan to keep the production faithful to the game franchise. At the directing helm will be Scott Waugh, who handled "Act of Valor" and also worked on the stunt crews for movies like "The Italian Job" and "Biker Boyz." The screenplay will come from George Gaitins, Dreamworks executive producer for "She's Out of My League. Production should start early next year.
Well, it could turn out just fine. Seems like just another "Fast and the Furious," which did quite well in the box office, right? The only question is whether or not the NFS fans really care about watching fast cars...I mean, as opposed to driving 'em.
