Californication Actress Camilla Luddington Becomes Lara Croft
These days, video games require good actors and actresses, especially because more and more games use the body as well as the voice.
In the case of the Tomb Raider reboot, developer Crystal Dynamics has chosen English actress Camilla Luddington and as expected, her work will extend beyond the voiceover performance. They'll also be using motion-capture techniques so Luddington will actually be, for all intents and purposes, in the game.
If you're not familiar, Luddington has starred in the Showtime series "Californication" and was also in the TV movie, "William & Kate," in which she played Kate Middleton. According to publisher Square Enix, it was the pretty girl's "youthful tone" and "depth of emotion" that made her a good fit for the young Lara Croft. Remember, Tomb Raider is a prequel so Lara is definitely younger than we've ever seen her before.
If you plan to attend Comic-Con 2012, you might see Luddington there; she'll be on hand to discuss her new role. Tomb Raider is scheduled to launch on March 5, 2013.
