Aliens Writer: The Heart Of The Story Is A Female Character
When gamers learned there wouldn't be a playable female character in Aliens: Colonial Marines, the backlash was...well, quite significant to say the least.
But Gearbox writer Mikey Neumann has tried to clarify things for those who remain miffed. In a series of Tweets conversing with "HeatherAnneCampbell," Neumann was somewhat vague but did say that producer Brian Burleson may have "misspoken" and that the team hasn't announced everything they're doing just yet. Furthermore, don't think there are no women in the game; that was a common - and obviously erroneous - assumption after the news broke. Wrote Neumann:
"Speaking from a story perspective, the heart of the story in the game is a character named Bella. A female, and the best I've ever written."
There's no doubt that the "Alien" franchise has always featured strong female roles and it appears the developers aren't ignoring that. Isn't it crazy how things can kinda get blown out of proportion every now and then? Or rather...really often?

But I really want this to be a good game, Alien VS Predator had so much potential, but the controls and sluggish animation let it down - Controlling the Xenomorph & having to press a button to go on each new corner of a wall became so tedious and ruined that gameplay section.

...and one of the most unrealistic. Starship Troopers' military forces are more believable and it's a satire!
Aliens is 80s shlop and I have little doubt this latest game based on the movie will be the typical 90% action/set pieces.

It's one of the only films I can think of where I do actually care for the whole cast of soldiers. Usually they're very bland and all the same but each character had a great sense of personality - one example, Drake and Vasquez's friendship, they'd play rough, but it was so strong. I really like the cast and thought they all did a terrific job in making what could just be a bog standard unit, memorable.
