Black Ops II Will Have The Best Call Of Duty Campaign Ever
Just go with me on this.
Firstly, I've always believed Treyarch has put a little extra something into their Call of Duty campaigns, at least in direct comparison to Infinity Ward. World at War and Black Ops both had very enjoyable single-player adventures in my mind, and despite the PR and pub the "No Russian" sequence got in MW2, I still say Treyarch excels in the campaign area.
Secondly, the concepts, themes, and topics that will apparently be tackled in Black Ops II are pretty freakin' massive. If you read up on what we know thus far, it seems like the developers are really pushing to deliver a well-paced and surprisingly in-depth plot. On top of which, if you examine the trailers and snippets of gameplay we've seen, it also seems clear that a wide variety of mechanics will play a role in that campaign. If you factor in the diverse locations as well, you're looking at something that couldn't possibly be finished in only four or five hours...right? Ten seems more reasonable.
Thirdly and lastly, I really do believe those who enjoy single-player experiences have made their voices heard. For the most part, they've been drowned out by the legions of multiplayer fanatics who only play CoD for one reason, and that's perfectly fine, considering multiplayer is indeed the franchise's bread and butter. But I know some gamers were unimpressed with the MW3 campaign and I believe the disappointed were even more vocal this time around. Activision may not have cared to listen but I bet some of the guys at Treyarch noticed, especially because they do pride themselves on the campaigns they produce.
Oh, and of course, Activision is dumping a ton of money into the new production. And money can buy talent; they've got "The Dark Knight Rises" co-writer David S. Goyer and composer Trent Reznor, for instance, and you can expect more big names to come to light as the year progresses. I will say that an old engine can still hold Treyarch back but as I've said in the past, they've done some pretty amazing things with that old clunker.

It's more a sign of who agrees or disagrees with your statement(s). But I understand what you mean, it is a bit confusing these downvotes.
My advice is to not pay much attention to them unless they come in bulks.

I firmly believe that MP has started the downfall of civilization. I cannot stand MP. The few times that I have played online, it has been a very disheartening experience.
I will definitely play it. I love Treyarch's Single Player Campaigns. I agree with you Ben and actually loved seeing the above statement in type. The character development and storyline of a Treyarch COD campaign is excellent. W@W had the best COD campaign to date but Black Ops wasn't too far behind. I cannot wait to see what they do with this one. D1P!!!!

Well, I appreciate any effort to beef'n up the single player stuff. I suppose MS's effort to provide devs with more useable DVD space has something to do with this move. It may be like only 1.5gbs of extra data, but that can go a long way in creating more levels once core assets are in place.

Kinda reminds me of Suikoden. I go from fighting butt-faced imperials the whole game and building up support for my Liberation army and now here I am saving a town from an evil maniacal vampire lord with zombie cronies. Doesn't make sense but okay! zombies have a free pass for any game these days, even CoD ;)

really? That's lame. you do realize anyone you copy and paste won't care? I mean, CoD is, right now, huge. And you're threatening to rub it in their face when it's... well... still huge... It could still be huge 3 years from now, or more, or less just as it is still going to be huge 2 minutes from now. But when it fails? Well, there's no timeline. Someday, it will falter and fail. It won't always be huge. Anytime you seek to prove everyone wrong... they'll just say, "wait and see. It will fail." and there is no way you can prove them wrong.
You realize you could wait an eternity and you will never be able to concretely prove your point, right? It could still fail. You've set yourself up for a challenge in which you can only lose. Even if you never lose, you can never win...
That was stupid. :p
@Zen
That's hilarious!

Then last week, I played Black Ops and, it was just horrible. It was literally 'OMG we need to go here and kill this guy. OMG there are people here shooting us! WE NEED AN EVAC! BUT not before we're about to get killed, to like, make it dramatic. kthxbye' every mission.
And it was so obvious that *that guy* was just a figment of his imagination. I'd actually figured it out after about the 5th mission - and I'm usually stumped on these kinda things.
Honestly it was just horrible. I'd say it's gotten worse in terms of the quality of the campagin. Another thing: How can uncharted get ripped to shreds for being called linear, when this isn't? THIS was literally like being on rails. Some missions you literally don't have to shoot, and will get through it just fine. Sub-HD really shows it's ugly face in this title, too.

its like saying oh joy i got syphilis the best of the STIs!
no one exactly wants it..........
in not really interested in it to be honest.
looks allot like black ops but with more futuristic weapons.
its still going to be a run and gun mindless blow everything up with NO tactical and squad based gameplay what so ever!
i want a deep tactical war based game, not a rambo film!
surprised stylone is not directing this!
