Rock Band Blitz Jazzes Up PSN, XBLA Later Next Month

Music games didn't always have the benefit of plastic instruments. In the beginning, you just needed fast fingers.

And those who remember titles like Frequency and Amplitude with great fondness will probably be interested in the downloadable Rock Band Blitz.

Today, Harmonix has announced that the new music title will hit the PlayStation Network on August 28 and a day later on the Xbox Live Arcade; the price will be $14.99 and 1,200 Microsoft Points, respectively. No instrument peripherals are required for this one, which actually supports the "biggest music library in gaming," primarily because it's fully compatible with thousands of songs already available at the Rock Band Music Store. The game will ship with 20 songs, too; here's a brief sampling that was just revealed:

  • Avenged Sevenfold "So Far Away"
  • Fun. ft. Janelle Mone "We Are Young"
  • Kool & The Gang "Jungle Boogie"
  • My Chemical Romance "Sing"

For more info, head on over to the game's official site.

hmmm, this is well and good. it's not for me. I would like PSN to get Suikoden 2 some time. I have all 108 stars of destiny and I'm just biding my time before finishing her off and then holding onto my save for Suikoden 2. Which still needs to happen, PSN. Make with the Sui-shi! =p

I don't get it. Technically any Rock Band can get any song from the Rock Band store. Granted, the actual older ones can't, but recent ones like Rock Band 3 should, so how is this any different in terms of supporting the most titles from the Rock Band store? Are there songs that only work with certain features from this title?

so this uses the controller like the earlier GH1,2,3 did?
sweet, ive really been missing that since they removed it from world tour.
might pick this up later on.
so frustrating how publishers pick release dates latley though.
i mean we have had jack sh*t release for the past month, and wont have anything till mid of next month!
we have had like 2 months of nothing releasing, why couldent this release then?
instead of when the blockbuster months start?
this or sleeping dogs and darksiders 2.
yea i think i know which one everyones going to be choosing!
