Gran Turismo 5: Academy Edition Slated For September
If you haven't yet indulged in the splendid simulation that is Gran Turismo 5, you're about to be given even more incentive.
As revealed at the European PlayStation Blog, the GT5 Academy Edition will be racing onto store shelves in Europe on September 26 for only "€29.99/£19.99 or your local currency equivalent."
As you might expect, the package includes plenty of extra content, along with a very cool bonus; check it out:
- Complete Pack (Car Pack, Course Pack, Special Paint Pack, Racing Gear Pack)
- Car Pack 2
- Car Pack 3 and Course Pack 2
- The Nissan GTR driven in this year’s Nurburgring 24 hour race by series creator Kazunori Yamauchi
Yep, they're including the virtual version of the car Yamauchi actually drove in the iconic race. As for the series creator, here's what he had to say about this new Edition:
"GT Academy has captured the imagination of many Gran Turismo fans. It is exciting to watch what Lucas Ordóñez, Jordan Tresson, Jann Mardenborough and Bryan Heitkotter in the USA, are achieving in their new racing careers with Nissan.
People can now see that it is possible to make the switch from being a fast gamer to become a real racing driver. We wanted to mark the tremendous success of GT Academy with the very latest version of GT5."
There's no knowing if the Academy Edition will come to the US but chances are, it will. At the end of the post, they tell you to keep an eye out for more news on this special package, and to check the official website for more information. It's no real surprise that it gets announced for Europe first; they're even nuttier about car racing than we are.

Also, there are supposedly other "content" that we may be excited about this edition that we haven't heard about yet. I'm honestly not gonna hold my breath for it, but every new content is welcomed.
