When's Dawnguard Coming To Skyrim On PS3? ...Well, Whenever

Yeah, that's par for the course.

The Dawnguard downloadable content for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim has been available for the Xbox 360 for a month, but there's no word on when (or if) it'll come to the PS3 or PC.

And despite any rumors floating around out there, Bethesda VP Pete Hines Tweeted to remind everyone that nothing official has been reported. Hence, any dates you may see are just unfounded rumor and nothing more. Hines wrote:

"We have not announced Dawnguard for any other platform, nor given a timeline for any such news. If we have news, I promise I'd tell you."

Hines did say to an annoyed fan that he was just clarifying, and merely because there's nothing official now doesn't mean there never will be. But it hasn't been enough to quell yet another uprising on the part of PS3 users everywhere, who have always felt like second-class citizens in Bethesda's world. Maybe the best way to counter that is to just say, "Yep, Dawnguard is coming even if don't know when."

...okay, maybe that isn't the best idea, either.

I honestly feel like dawnguard was just released as a kinect gimmick. I really haunt heard good things about the expansion, then again nothing bad. But again I feel it was a give in to MS to release something for kinect.

What kinect features did dawnguard have?

Not sure why you'd think Dawnguard is a Kinect gimmick. Dawnguard doesn't bring anything new to Skyrim at all, Kinect-wise, to the game.

"What kinect features did dawnguard have? "

Skyrim uses Kinect for voice commands. Dawnguard brings nothing new, feature-wise, to the game WRT Kinect.

You proved my point. They brought voice-commands which I'm sure MS had a hand in pushing for that. That's all I'm saying. You don't have to agree.

Umm dude, the Kinect features came out a long time before the DLC was released?

You are mistaken.

Kinect funtionality patched in Skyrim a few months before Dawnguard was released. Kinect is not needed at all to play Dawnguard so it's hardly a "kinect gimmick"

I was amazed and shocked when I restarted Skyrim the other day and, never mind Dawnguard, there was still no horse combat. I can't believe they ever released this game without a basic feature of the previous one.

Oh yes, and Dawnguard and Bethesda being massive tools. Rabble rabble. Obviously Bethesda are just crap developers. Every game is full of bugs, they can't sync releases; I had to wait months before the "finished" game was even playable on PS3, and by then I was happy to buy it from a local used game shop to consciously not support such a weak-ass developer.

They do get away with bugs in their games that you NEVER see in other games. It's really off-putting.

The 1.6 update added mounted combat to the game, and they did a pretty good job with it. Though there are mods that do it even better. No PS3 release date for the update announced and may not be as the 1.7 patch came out for the PC version 4 days ago.

Maybe it was just bows on horses in Oblivion, idk. I was never much of a run in and fight player. It annoyed the heck out of me when I first got on a horse in Skyrim and couldn't do squat.

Microsoft (not defending/praising) pays game companies to get DLC a month earlier than other systems. However, PS store is currently undergoing a maintenance that is after the last planned maintenance for this month right now. COULD be a dawnguard surprise, COULD just be hackers again -_-' either way, im waiting patiently by my PS3. waiting because there is no way Bethesda would leave us out of the loop of this DLC. ever wonder why CoD and other multisystem games ALWAYS have DLC released a month before everyone else for the XBOX? B.G. pays extra money to companies to get that privilege. (Still hate XBOX. have and always will be an avid Playstation supporter!)

All these timed exclusives for Microsoft's XBOX 360 has taught me one thing...

I will not buy Microsoft's next console at all, to reward their greed with the whooping $0 of my hard earned money that also equals the number of... bucks I give about Microsoft, or their timed exclusivity that they like to buy.

The simple truth, I I bought all 3 major consoles. I bought both the handhelds. I play PS3 most, then DS (Now 3DS), then Wii, then PSP, then XBOX 360... You heard that right... I use my PSP more than my PS3 stand... err... I mean 360. I plan to buy a Wii U (if only to get Nintendo's brand of gaming brought up to the CURRENT standards of tech), and I DEFINITELY plan to buy a PS4, provided they don't pull any dumb online only, persistence, DLC only garbage.

I currently have no plans to invest in any future Microsoft consoles. I just see no point in buying the successor to my least used system, or fund a company that angers me by tossing money to keep me from playing games for a while on my preferred console.

Try using that money you toss around for other incentives, like free online play, or hardware that doesn't take multiple revisions before it finally works properly.

Im usually all for dlc but I wont be buying any Skyrim dlc because the game lasts a few hundred hours and I still haven't finished it. Exclusive dlc has never made any sense to me.

That's a terrible excuse not to buy dawnguard. I mean I spent a couple hundred hours in Oblivion, and the. Another 50 or so with the Shivering isles expansion. Glad I didnt miss out on that, it was one of the best expansions ever released for any game. Point is Bethesda doesn't just create dlc, it literally is big enough to be a standalone game.

Not sure about dawnguard though. But something will come to that extent.

With the support they show for the PS3 I wouldn't hold my breath that is for sure. I know someone that got it on Xbox and he says it is hilarious yelling at his TV and watching things die. It just made me laugh because all I could picture is this big buy yelling at his TV in front of his front room window and people looking on going WTF?!?!

claps in agreement. Bethesda has been nasty to PS3 owners since Fallout 3. They can't seem to ship a pS3 game without some kind of special issue we have to deal. Fallout 3's performence on the PS3 could be awful. The DLC in particular was hideous. Never was patched out either. Some of those DLC expansions in Fallout 3 GOTY edition are damn near unplayable like Broken Steel.

Dont't even get me started on Skyrim which shipped with a nasty long play issues and would essentially break on you if you played it long enough. No excuse for that. Donn't forget that Bethesda tried to hide the inferior PS3 version by boycotting sending out the PS3 version for review. They shipped that game to the PS3 users knowing it had serious problems. We might get this DLC but I promise you it will have some kind issue on the PS3. Bethesda's games have ran wonky on the PS3 since Fallout3.

We are second class citizens in their world. I'm convinced of that. The way bethesda has treated the PS3 community over the years proves that.l

Ugh... this pains me. It is very tiresome trying to remain a fan of Bethesda. I adore all of the TES titles, but currently lack a quality PC to thoroughly enjoy the previous entries. That being said, I'd like to point out another insult to PS3 owners pre-Skyrim. We all loved The Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine was pretty fun; but we still got passed over for a wealth of smaller, still-enjoyable DLC given to both PC and 360: The Orrery, Frostcrag Spire, Horse Armor (meh), Mehrune's Razor, Deepscorn Hollow, spell tomes, Battlehorn Castle (this made me sad), and Dunbarrow Cove.

So I ask: Why the lack of love?

Ultimately Bethesda is in Microsoft's pocket. Sweet stuff for the 360 AND for PCs that - generally - feature *gasp* Windows OS!

I think I am just to a point where I am wishing (desperately) that a Sony-exclusive developer will conjure up something that can (finally) go toe-to-toe with Bethesda's games as far as scale and, honestly, epic-ness. That way we, of the under-privileged and un-loved, might finally be able to go, "Eh? Who is Bethesda? OH! You must mean that company that claims to be multi-platform but plays favorites! Right?"

Have not played a Bethesda game since Oblivion and never will until they learn how to give consumers the same products. PS3/PC gamers need to have self-control and stop buying Bethesda products and make sure they know why. There are plenty of games to buy.
I could care less about timed DLC, but when people pay $60 for the same game on a different platform, I expect the same functioning product. Skyrim may have won game of the year but it's still a Bethesda peace of s**t. If you buy their products you have no right to bi*** about it! This has been a known issue with them for three titles now. QUITE BUYING THEIR S**T!

Uh...actually, I think you've got that backwards. If you buy a product and you're unhappy with it, you have every right to "bi*** about it." I can't see complaining about something you never bought.

I understand that. But with Bethesda products you already know what your going to get if you get it on PS3. You can't buy something you know is going to be broken then complain about it. That's like buying a car that you think has an oil leak, then finding out it does, then getting upset about it. I do get what you're saying though, Ben.

It took me a good 20 hours of trying but I've actually now gotten into Skyrim (I have the 360 version.) Once you get past the outrageous bugs of Bethesda games, the wretched dialogue and obscenely dense Tolkien rip-off of a plot, the world is actually a lot of fun to explore. The music is some of my favorite of this generation I think.

Having said that, I wouldn't get worked up about missing out on Dawnguard. I'm certainly not buying it. It's just more of the same, in no way does it look like it's worth 20 bucks. In concept, I love the idea of revisiting game worlds I enjoy with new missions, content, story threads, etc. In practice, DLC is far more often than not is just just meaningless, tacked on content developed on the cheap to get more money out of hardcore fans and discourage people from selling their games off. (BIG exception to this was Mass Effect 2. A few of those DLC missions were as good or better than anything found in the retail release, and really did an awesome job setting the stage for Mass Effect 3.)

It's like they arent even planning any of this out. Like last summer some guys says dude you know this year is gonna be 11.11.11 and someone in the top heard it and said "Thats when this game is coming out", even though they cleary had more to do.

Then Todd Howard thought it'd be cool to show that game jam video to the public and preface it by saying "We did this all in one week... chuckle chuckle". Then in interviews stated yeah we want to do DLC for Skyrim. Fans then started yelling from the mountian tops for DLC because "if they can do the game jam video stuff in a week, where the hell is our DLC !".

So Bethesda puts out Dawnguard and says XBOX will get it first and we will have an announcement for when we are announcing the release dates for PC/PS3 shortly. I dont think they have any clue...

Why don't PS3 users just stop buying Bethesda products? If they treat you like crap why keeping going back to them asking when I'll get my new DLC (which you'll buy) for a game you've paid for. Kinda like giving Bethesda £40, then they slap you in the face, then you offer them more money, so then they slap you in the face and so on and so forth...

They didn't give PSN users trophies for Oblivion 5th Anniversary Edition and was supposed to. What makes you think we'll get dawngaurd. Bethesda has made me angry for the 4th time now. No patch for Oblivion's "Vampire Cure quest", no trophies for Oblivion, Skyrim freezes every hour on the hour WITH updates and patches, and now we might not get to see Dawngaurd. Bethesda are shady.
