One Of Last Generation's Best Hits PSN Next Week

Remember when the ESRB rated Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City earlier this year?

Whenever that happens, you can bet that the titles in question will soon enter the digital realm. And considering the two games in question, we had to keep a very close eye on when they'd go downloadable.

Thankfully, thanks to the latest PlayStation Blogcast, we now know that GTAIII will land on the PSN next week, and it'll sport an awfully agreeable $9.99 price tag. We're guessing Vice City won't be too far behind (and it's probably save to assume it too will cost ten bucks). Unfortunately, like the other PS2 classics, GTAIII won't be getting a high-definition update or Trophy support; it's basically just a re-release of the iconic, groundbreaking classic.

So next Tuesday, if you don't already have the game in your physical collection, you just gotta download GTAIII. I'm one of many who were completely blown away by this sucker. ...and so what if it hasn't withstood the test of time? It's legendary!

What about San Andreas? That was the best GTA of last gen imo.

I'm still baffled why Rockstar haven't given us all three games in an HD collection.

Cool for some people I guess. With no added trophy support there's no reason for me to play this again. To many other games to get through.

Guys, i too wanted an Hd collectiin with trophies, but you must remember in order for that to happen each game must be totally revamped,higher polygon counts for each character in hd,the open world city must be re rendered in hd and checked for hiccups in framerate, a long gruesome time consuming ordeal that Rockstar just doesn't have time for with all their other big releases,RDR, Max Payne, Gta V, and more,and Rockstar is the type of developer that won't let any other studios greasy hands besides their own touch their gta franchise,Sly cooper hd collection however was remade in Hd by another developer other than the original.

Sly wasn't the only one, all HD collections are outsourced (MGS, GOW, Jak & Daxter, ect). If Rockstar doesn't want another developer touching GTA, then that's too bad, but outsourcing has been proven to work for HD Collections.

They are losing out on an easy cash grab.

I know sly is not the only one made by other devs, was just an example, didn't think i had to name everyone for you,but main point, Rockstar is Rockstar and they will never let any one touch their work.

I didn't say you had to mention all of them, but you named Sly like it was the only one. Plus Sly is probably the least popular Collection to mention.

Anyway. Its Rockstars loss, gamers would've turned out in droves to buy an HD Collection, i doubt too many will buy this Sub HD version.

was actually just playing a little GTA III last week and had a blast still so fun. for me it totally withstands the test of time

I think it will withstand the test of time too, at least for those of us who's got fond memories about it.

For me it's more the principle of paying twice for the same game.

yes that's kind of what i'm thinking to. for the old school GTA fans that played them back then they'll withstands the test of time for the newer generation kids probably not.

myself i can easily jump into GTA III or vc and sa. and enjoy them as much as anything else out there. (but eh i did pretty much become a master of GTA i probably played those 3 games more than anybody on the planet xD)

seriously?
come on this is THE industries biggest best selling franchise, and there not going to do a HD collection for it?
come on R* you remastered the game for mobiles, so why not for consoles?
seriously cant believe this, if there is ONE series out there that would benefit from a HD remake its this!
yea it would be one of the hardest series to remake due to its scale and open world nature, but its one of the industries most popular games so it would easily break sales records!
wish R* would do a HD remake of 3, vice city and san andreas.
than once thats done redo vice city stories, liberty city stories and chinatown wars in HD!
come on, if there is one franchise out there that is set to break sales records its this!
i just dont think R* understand how many people are waiting for this.
2 people will buy it off the PSN, the games just look far too ugly and outdated now!
replaying TM black on my 65" TV was like rubbing sand in my eyes and having bamboo under the fingernails!
sorry R*, but releasing this on PSN is pointless.
we NEED a HD remake!!!!!!!!!

i don't think they'll be an HD collection because these three games are like Rockstars baby's and they might not want to let another developer handle them. and obviously they're to busy to do it themselves. idk just a thought i had.

Rockstar has about 8 subsidaries under their belt with only half of them working on new games, the rest just adding finishing touches onto other games. Why not hire one of them to remaster these games in HD?

Rockstar Leeds recently ported L.A. Noire to PC. Hire them to make an HD collection!
