Dishonored Boasts Big-Time Voice Talent
Dishonored will feature a unique, highly stylized environment along with what could be an engrossing and detailed storyline.
And what is a necessary complement to that structure? Why, fantastic voice acting, of course. Today, Bethesda Softworks has announced a star-studded cast for the ambitious new project in development at Arkane Studios; they went after some serious Hollywood talent.
The game will boast the voices of Academy Award winner Susan Sarandon ("Thelma & Louise," "Dead Man Walking"), Golden Globe winner Brad Dourif ("The Lord of the Rings" trilogy, "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest"), Emmy Award nominees Carrie Fisher ("Star Wars") and John Slattery ("Mad Men"), Michael Madsen ("Reservoir Dogs," "Kill Bill"), and Lena Headey ("300," "Game of Thrones").
Sarandon is making her video game debut and will lend her recognizable voice to Granny Rags, a former aristocrat and deranged blind old woman (bizarre role, but still...). Dourif will play the inventor Piero (he created the main character's signature mask), and Fisher will be heard broadcasting government propaganda throughout the city of Dunwall (go, Princess Leia!). Slattery will play Admiral Havelock, and Madsen is going to become a mysterious assassin named Daud.
But the list doesn't end there. More voice work will come from Chloë Grace Moretz ("Kick-Ass," "Hugo"), who will play Young Lady Emily, the Empress' daughter, and composer Daniel Licht ("Dexter") will create the original score. Said Arkane studios president Raphaël Colantonio:
"Having such talented actors voice Dishonored's compelling cast of characters adds a rich, powerful element to the game. We want to draw people into this virtual world and make it feel real. This celebrated cast adds wonderful depth and credibility to the overall Dishonored gameplay experience."
Dishonored hits North America on October 9.

it really does not add enough to the game to warrant the added cost!
i mean seriously is having a million dollar voice really going to increase the value of the game to warrant the extra expense?
if your doing a game that tries to tell a deep story like beyond 2 souls and your really trying to make the player feel how the characters would, if you really want to envoke emotions than yea it would be worth it.
but in this?
honestly could not think of a bigger waste of money!
there was a really interesting interview on Xplay the other day, they had nolan north on there and a few other industry peeps and the question was is it really worth developers spending such big bucks on hollywood stars?
it was really surprising and interesting to see what the general consensus was.
everyone there said no.
most of the time its not really worth it, its not required.
i cant see a million dollar paid actor from the biggest best hollywood studio making a game like uncharted or whatever any better!
only place where it would improve the game is where your trying to make a drama story, when your really trying to connect with the audience and your trying to tell a deep complex story it works wonders!
so yea i think its a massive waste of money to hire these
million dollar actors for a game, especially if your just doing voice acting!
only game where it would be worth it is a game like beyond two souls, i was actually really surprised and elated elan page is the main star.
thats really going to help the game bring it to another level!
however hiring her to play as elana in uncharted 4 would be a MASSIVE waste of money!
