MGS4 Trophies Coming Very, Very Soon, Full List Revealed

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots

Update: Trophy patch set for August 6. Plus, we hear tell the released list isn't totally complete...there will be "hidden" Trophies as well.

Original Story:

It's almost time for you to play through the epic Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots again. Yes indeed.

Oh, you don't really have a choice. You need these Trophies. Two pieces of good news concerning the incoming Trophies for one of this generation's most accomplished and memorable titles; the information popped up at the PlayStation Blog:

First of all, the Trophy patch is coming at the "beginning of August," which kinda means right about now. This is part of the legendary franchise's 25th anniversary celebration, so you best be appreciative for everything Kojima and Co. have given you over the years! Secondly, they've revealed the full list of Trophies, so you can formulate a plan of attack. Which appear plenty doable? Which do you think will take some time? How many gamers out there have always wanted a Platinum for MGS4? Yeah, a lot of raised hands, I know.

Lastly, if for some reason you missed out on this tremendous gem, retail versions in the stores will be updated with these new Trophies. So yeah, no more excuses. Time to play.

I read somewhere that August 6 is the day it comes out in Japan. Has this been confirmed to come out in NA that same day?

The trophies aren't retroactive. It was confirmed by Kojima productions producer Sean eyestone in the KP Report podcast. You'll have to start a new game.

I'm with ya on that :)

I've mentioned this a few time already, but the patch also includes a Full install option. No more installs between acts :D

Also, there is rumors of free MGS4 DLC.

Sorry jawknee, i should've worded that another way. When i said "I've mentioned this a few times" i was referring to the Full install. I don't think i've ever mentioned the save data part, so its a good thing you brought it up :)

That list won't be easy. Getting all Ipod tracks requires getting all 40 emblems (doing that unlocks the Snake eater song).

You should have seen the idiots posting on the PSBlog about how disappointed they are with the trophy list. Some said that it would even be an easy Platinum. I haven't played MGS4 yet (though I already own it), so I can't really say how easy or difficult it would be. But some of those folks who have really played the game said it's a well-disguised trophy set. Looks easy to get but is definitely tough in reality.

Minus the hidden trophies and the one for getting all 40 emblems, so far the list is easily achievable. I managed to complete most of these tasks within my first two play throughs.

Exactly. And i seen those comments on the PSBlog, they are in for a surprise aren't they? lol.

If i had to guess, i'd say the hidden trophies are story related, if so, they probably wouldn't be very challenging. They are probably hidden to avoid spoiling the story. I could be wrong though.

But anyway. Nothing there is impossible, just difficult. For instance, the BB emblem isn't super hard if ya have the right weapons & items on hand.

You did better than i. I think it was my 10th or 15th playthrough before i got BB.

I kept getting stuck on the bike chase, i later learned that the solar gun was the key to my victory.

I've already played through the game a few times and looks like I'll be doing so again. MGS 4 is the game I bought the PS 3 for and easily one of my top 3 this gen along with Batman: Arkham City and Uncharted 2 so any reason to revisit it is fine with me.

How cool is this! I am extremely happy for this but will wait until I am caught up in the series. Hopefully this is a huge hit and MGS4 sells even more now and Sony sees what a good tactic this could be for the older PS3 games. Heavenly Sword I am looking at you!
