PSXE Poll Update: Olympics Generate Both Love And Indifference
With the Olympic Games in full swing, we just wondered how many PSXE readers were watching the competitions.
While many said they're not interested at all, the majority said they're at least going to follow the results and highlights, and there were nearly as many fanatics ("Yup, I'm watching every day!") as the totally indifferent ("No chance.")
Personally, I've always been a fan, just because I have this fascination in seeing just how far we can push the human body in a variety of disciplines. Besides, I can be a sucker for all the drama surrounding the Games...which is actually a little ironic, because I absolutely abhor reality TV shows. Well, maybe that's because the majority of the latter is trash and the Olympics are about some of the most dedicated humans alive putting everything on the line for two weeks.
Now, about games in August: We've got an interesting duel next week, as both Darksiders II and Sleeping Dogs launch on the same day (August 14). If you've been checking up on our Twitter page, you've seen me drop a few hints concerning Darksiders II... Also note PSXE interviewee, Playboy model and confirmed gamer Jo Garcia's Tweeted response: "It is insane." You trust us, right? Sleeping Dogs is perhaps the sleeper...whaddya got?

Sleeping Dogs on the other hand looks cool but I have not been impressed enough with it to buy it. I just have a feeling it's not going to be that good.

That's the one I'll be getting. Assuming I get through Revelations in time, so I'm ready for AC3.
I still havnt beaten Darksiders, but my buddy borrowed it and i watched him beat it. But id still like to finish it myself before getting Darksiders 2.
As far as the olympics go. If you're not interested fine, but it's not only part of the world actually coming together (regardless the fact it's to compete) it's also a large part of history and each countries heritage. It's pretty important in my opinion. The individual and team efforts is also what makes the games so special. It's exciting to me.

But it's great to watch the sports that are unknown to me, the smaller sports that usually don't get much media attention at all. So much talent and dedication, and the happy scenes following victories are such a delight to watch.
This is feelgood TV at it's best!

I just can't believe how much we've improved; back in the Athen's games in 2004, we were dreadful - only barely reaching double figures in the gold category. But since Bejing, we've really stepped it up, which is great to see. While against America's and China's amount of medals we look like we've came up short, if you look at the population to medal table, we're sitting pretty at the top.
Just sad thinking that it'll be another 60, 70 years until the next London olympics. That's the only thing I'm sad about though :p

And Ennis is *cuuuute*. :)
But I find the niche sports to be of *most* interest actually, cause we never see anything from those sports the rest of the year.

Also, when I said they were 'niche', I meant it's something I personally don't find entertaining to watch, even though it may well be enjoyable to physically do it. But we actually won two golds in two of the sports I mentioned, so I got a good look at them anyhow :)

simply because its a open world game and we dont have many of those, and the combat system both weapon wise and heavy martial arts focused.
the environmental interaction is cool too, i mean how many games let you smash a guys head into a air conditioning duct fan!?
im a little disappointed with the serious combat change of darksiders 2 also.
the original was so awesome and unique simply because of wars weight and strength!
every action game out there the combat is fast paced, where darksiders was the complete opposite.
instead of swinging a stick at light speed you felt like you were swinging a brute of a sword, it made the combat feel really strong and brutal!
and now they have gone and thrown it all out the window!
sigh.
why does every sequel have to throw everything that made the original unique out the window?
since when did originality and uniqueness become illegal in this industry!?
