DICE Hints At Return Of Mirror's Edge, Bad Company IPs

Two franchises that really shouldn't die and thankfully, the developer understand that.

Mirror's Edge remains one of our favorite new IPs of the generation, but we haven't heard about a sequel despite the million-plus sales performance of the first title. Battlefield: Bad Company is another solid series (or rather, sub-series) that nobody wants to see disappear.

The good news is that during a recent IGN interview, DICE executive producer Patrick Bach said that Mirror's Edge is quite frankly "too good to kill." He said the same thing about Bad Company:

"The Bad Company IP is still something we love, and it’s very dear to me because I worked on both titles. We have no information with where we are to a sequel to Bad Company, so I can’t tell you anything about that IP."

Bach made it plain that his team will "never kill anything great" and that obviously applies to both IPs in question. We're wondering now if DICE is preparing a new ME or BC entry for the next generation...Mirror's Edge could really benefit from new technology; in fact, done properly with fancy new tech, it could be downright mind-blowing.

I'd love to see a full budget fine tuned sequel to Mirror's Edge.

Ben you should play and review the game "the last story", even though it's for wii, it's freaking awesome. It feels like the old golden days of final fantasy, IMO it feels something between mass effect and ffXII. Shakaguchi have done it again.

I really don't think Nintendo reviews on a PlayStation-centric cite would fly. ;)

im pretty sure Dice mentioned Battlefield Bad company 3 a lil while ago saying they were working on it.

its not that I dont love BF3, but I just feel that it wasnt made for the console, and it shows that BFBC 1 and 2 were.

you know, I started playing BC2 the other day on my PC. I was liking it pretty well until I ran it's latest patch update and now it crashes every time a level loads. yipee!

Yes yes yes!!! Don't kill Mirror's Edge at all!!!

The only reason why many considered the first one a bit average was primarily because of its short length (you can finish it in 1.5 hours), weak story (really needs one which explores the environment more), repetitive level design (near the end), and then it's stray from the core concept of its gameplay!!! (running away with amazing parkour tricks turned into actually confronting your enemies head on with weapons)

These are the only things they got to fix - I seriously believe I thought through this well enough where if THEY WORK ON THE SUGGESTIONS I listed - they got ONE HELL OF A GAME. THE CONCEPT IS SOOOO DAMN GOOD as is the SETTING!!!

Moreover, you gotta love the theme song: Still Alive.

They had better make a Mirror's Edge 2. Mirror's Edge is right up there with some of the most fun I've had this generation.

You do know you can get through the entire game without firing a single bullet right? The guns are there to be a crutch to less adept players. Try it out without guns and you'll have more fun with it.

Actually, I love both games and can't wait to see the next iterations and sequels they create. I know I'll love them. Also, at the gamescon, there seems to be a lot of cool new games with real interesting gameplay coming out.

DICE, you know the only thing thats worse than killing potential franchises?
talking till the death of them!
really gets annoying how they keep teasing them, i mean i remember back at the EB expo last year they hinted that mirrors edge 2 is in development.
if i had a nickel for every time DICE hinted at a BC3 or ME2 sequel, well, you get the routine by now.

It would be great to see these games come out; but at this rate they could drop for the PS4 rather than the PS3...

Q!
