Ni no Kuni: Wrath Of The White Witch Trailer Centers On Story

Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch is precisely what the doctor ordered for the thirsting JRPG fanatics out there.

It made an appearance at Gamescom this past week, and Sony's Jeff Rubenstein went hands-on with Level-5's anticipated production; you can catch the breakdown over at the PlayStation Blog.

Along with providing us with a new video, seen below, Rubenstein outlined a couple demos, one featuring "An Errand for Father Oak" and the other boasting a quest that takes place later in the game, "Eruption Interruption." The trailer shows off a lot of story elements, focusing on the little boy's quest to save his mother, along with plenty of drama. The art style may not appeal to everyone (and one can hear the dismissive "meh, it's for kids" retorts already), but it's not supposed to appeal to everyone.

Same 1st day purchase, I still need to play Rouge Galaxy, which has will be done once I've tackled the MGS4 trophies.

I'm really excited for this game. I absolutely love Studio Ghibli's art style. To see it in a video game, and a JRPG at that, is a real treat!

I will definitely be buying this game, and I'll be encouraging every PS3 owner I know to do the same.

Can't wait!

Exact same trailer as the E3 one, but who cares, this is looking to be the ultimate RPG. The 1st time ever that a game has me thinking it could possibly topple FFVll and become my fave RPG of all.

Ghibli...Level 5....Traditional roots intact....All in one game = Dream game.

Makes me feel like a kid again. Who would have thought it would take THIS long to be able to play an animation on my game system?

I hope it sells enough to become a franchise.

This game should become an instant best seller 'cause it may very well be the "Final Fantasy" of this generation...

We're counting on this game to prove that JRPG can thrive on a current-gen and possibly nex-gen consoles.

I, for one will buy this game first day.

I just have one question. I've never seen this game before, and even though I've never played the genre, this looks somewhat interesting to me. Which brings me to my question: is this game like pokemon? It looks like it to me.

Never played the pokemon games but it's not impossible, Oliver will be able to summon many creatures for aid.

Is it gonna be a campy "gotta catch em all" semi-adventure? No, this will likely be a rather grand epic with actual emotional stuff going on.

But do you catch or whatever new creatures and such? You know? Are there a vast amount of creatures? This looks like pokemon somehow. Can anyone further explain?

From a bit of a japanese playthrough i watched it looks like you can capture/recruit them in some way.

You can capture ANY familiar once you have Esther in your party. Then you can raise each via feeding, playing with, usage of it etc. Do that and they can evolve into something greater...
