Uncharted Movie Gets Writers But Loses Another Director

At this point, we're starting to wonder if the project will ever get done.

After losing its first director, the "Uncharted" movie got Neil Burger ("Limitless") to come on board. But now, according to a new Variety report, Burger is gone and the film needs yet another replacement.

On the flip side, writers Marianne and Cormac Wibberley ("National Treasure," "Charlie's Angels: Full Throttle") have been hired to pen the script for the film. Right now, it seems the project will be on hold until the script is completed, but we're not sure how long that will take. The film has Atlas producers Charles Roven and Alex Gartner, with Avi and Ari Arad producing via their Arad Prods. banner, so at least some key elements are still here.

In all honesty, I'm not sure I care much. The best new franchise of the current generation will be remembered with great fondness...having Hollywood screw up another game-to-movie effort will just be an unnecessary black eye.

Might as well start working on a movie script for naughty dog next big hit , the last of us . Now that s a movie i ll like to see .

I'd love to see Naughty Dog make a movie. I think it might turn out well.
At least better than forcing the job onto writers and directors that seemingly don't want the job.

My guess is Sony still wants Mark Walberg to be Nathan Drake and it's causing these directors to jump ship before it sinks. Just allow Nathan Fillion to be Drake and you'll get Steven Speilberg! I love both National Treasure movies so it's good to see the script is in good hands.

When i finally watched Firefly and saw nathan fillion in action i was like...why the fook is this guy not drake in the uncoming Uncharted movie???
Everything about him SCREAMS 'hey i'm nathan drake'
I loved mals quick draw skills :)

Why can't the people who penned the script for the games write it? I can see them needing assistance in screen play writing when it comes to the narration of sequence, but for spoken bits... who else besides the original writers can really capture the characters properly?

Let's just pray it never gets done. I can understand why they got the National Treasure guys but that could easily make the story a cheap scavenger hunt.

I haven't seen a bad Sony pictures movie in a long time. I have faith in it. I also just googled nathan fillion and wtf he looks NOTHING like nathan drake. The guy has wrinkles

Well, with all do respect that's your opinion and I completely disagree with it. Watch Firefly and the movie Serenity and you will see why Nathan Fillion is the correct choice for playing Nathan Drake.

Wow it's been a while since I saw it cause all I remember from that movie is a babe with sword (I *love* babe-with-sword movies). :D

Actually, I probably mix it with Ultra Violet, now that I think about it.

So all that is left in my memory is that Serenity was a cool movie! It's in my collection - seems it's time to watch it again. :)

Don't forget that Firefly is a decade old now. Of course Nathan looks a little older now. And if you've watched Castle lately, he's put on weight as well.

But I agree... if he looked the same as he did in Firefly, he'd be perfect.

They, Naughty Dog, need to drop the Uncharted series and make a Indiana Jones game. I dont care about all the drama. I just want to see some action, adventure, and blowing stuff up.

Idiana Jones > Uncharted. Period.

I'd rather ND not make a game that would directly compete and be compared to one of the best games of all time and as a series arguably the best. They absolutely would be the developers that could do it justice. But I'd rather them stick to the "new" face of the Playstation brand.

You're also comparing a movie character to a video game character. Indiana Jones is a classic character with many exciting experiences to remember. But the same could be said for Nathan Drake.

Uncharted essentially IS Indianna Jones. They took massive inspiration from it (which is obvious when you have seen/played both, as you see a lot of similar things).

I don't think that comment about wanting more action is valid at all anyway - you literally have a set-piece around every corner in Uncharted.

The animated comic "the eye of Indra" was really good. ND could completely handle the movie themselves but obviously they need to focus on games.

I wish this idea would just die. With the right team behind it, it has the potential to be great, but the National Treasure guys? I honestly can't stand those movies and the knowledge that they were behind Charlie's Angels 2 only makes it worse.

This movie could do with Joss Whedon. He'd get it right.

You'd be better off hiring a random border collie to pen your script. They're very smart, you know.
